Rolling stones top 100 guitarists

This is old I know.
THE LIST

But I just found it and Slash isn't on the list. Neither is Jerry Cantrel. Deaf people could have made a better list. I mean Kurt Cobain at #12 for his guitar abilities... um no.

Kard63 05-30-2004 01:09 PM

Angus young from AC/DC should be much higher than 96.

grumpy 05-30-2004 01:10 PM

I know its hard to check a submission but the link doesnt work.

calmlikeabomb 05-30-2004 01:13 PM

That list is such a joke.

The rolling stone doesn't know shit about music. If you want real professional opions on guitar I suggest picking up an subscription to Guitar One mag.

Exactly, he's #1 in my book, but everyone has their opinion. I saw Yngwie in japan on tape atleast 15 years ago, he's excellent for sure.

Kard63 05-30-2004 01:24 PM

Yea its a terrible list, thats why I psoted it, lol. My version of GFY drama :1orglaugh

definitely top ten!

bluedevil 05-30-2004 02:43 PM

hammett over santana?

Edguy! 05-30-2004 02:43 PM

I know some guitarists are obviously better than others, but you can't compare the best ones to each other cos they have different styles.

Paul Waters 05-30-2004 02:48 PM

They would have been better doing rock guitarists.

Les Paul at 43???

Robert Johnson and BB King are tokens, even though they deserve their postitions.

:rasta

DreamCumTrue 05-30-2004 02:49 PM

i didnt see randy rhodes on that list...

yngwie malmsteen was on their worst artists list...wtf?

NickPapageorgio 05-30-2004 02:53 PM

That may be the worst list I have ever seen. Chuck Berry gets listed higher than SRV and Jimmie Page????? Kurt Cobain knew about 4 chords and he gets 12th while Dimebag Darryl isn't even on the fucking list. Whatever...

calmlikeabomb 05-30-2004 02:54 PM

This list was clearly developed according to thier rankings on the charts and not what matters most thier place in revolutionizing the the sounds of the guitar.

I rest my case...lmao. Kirk Hammett makes the list but Dimebag Darryl doesn't lol...

NickPapageorgio 05-30-2004 02:55 PM

Well if it were my list SRV gets top honors. Little Wing may have been written by Jimmy Hendrix but it was PLAYED by Stevie Ray Vaughn...

Theo 05-30-2004 03:08 PM

wtf

rory gallagher is not even mentioned

Bansheelinks 05-30-2004 03:14 PM

Its official.........

that list is now quantified as a piece of shit.

Someone second this motion fast.

ChewbaCreative 05-30-2004 04:00 PM

Steve Vai is always number 1!!

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-30-2004 04:06 PM

12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana

What a complete fucking sick joke...

Proof Rolling Stone is Clueless.

I play better than most the fools on there.

Ambient Simple Track

Newton - XXXAmigoz 05-30-2004 04:08 PM

candyflip 05-30-2004 04:10 PM

13 Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead
14 Jeff Beck
15 Carlos Santana
16 Johnny Ramone of the Ramones
17 Jack White of the White Stripes
18 John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers
19 Richard Thompson
20 James Burton
21 George Harrison

Firehorse 06-01-2004 07:15 AM

I didn't agree with the list apart from the fact that Hendrix was number 1! :thumbsup

KittyLix 06-01-2004 07:18 AM

Joe Satriani is an awesome guitarist:2 cents:

DaddySacks 06-01-2004 10:02 AM
