Seriously though, you dont need to get RID of the fat chick. Play up the conversation with both of them, dont exclude anyone, and give the hottie a call in a couple days (2-3-4 day rule, whatever you use). If you get in good with the "undesirable" friend then they'll both talk about you until you call. The friend will be happy for the hotty, even if she is alone.

Pretty much.. and if the "hot" girl is as good of a friend to the "fat" chick as usually happens in these situations, she would be pissed right off if she thought for a second you were trying to ditch her friend, or if you used her friend to get to her.
