MYSTERY!!! (please help me solve it!)
OK, so i bought a bottle of cristal water as always, drank a lil and threw it in the fridge. tasted fine. smelled fine. then came back an hour or 2 later and took another drink, thought i smelled something, sniffed the bottle and this HORRRRIBLE deathly smell of nuts, rotting meat, and sulfer was comming out! I poured the water in a glass and smelled it, no smell. then i sniffed the bottle again and it was much fainter but still there. what the hell?
|
never heard of that before
|
that was because you were licking your dog's nuts just before you drank from it the first time, so the bottle picked up the scent :eek7

Could there have been something in the fridge? Was it beside something that may have transfered that smell?
|
Yes!
Someone else has experienced it too! I drink a lot of bottled water...we buy Dasani by the case. To this day I will never know why once in a blue moon a 1/2 drunk bottle will smell like something rotten. The only thing I can think of is maybe some bad breath or something from your mouth somehow got it the bottle and sits in there and lingers. I really have no idea...but I have experienced the same thing. Crazy stuff eh?! |
When you put it back the first time, was it with the cap back on or not ?
Or maybe you discovered a magic genie! Rub the bottle girl ;p |
my fridge is terrible, full of rotting take out food from a week before.. I heard my housekeeper almost throw up today.
|
Maybe I should stop by and investigate that for you Mssss. Stephanie :)

I dont have bad breath! I promise. |

The bottle must've farted :fart
|
It picks up some kind of scent from the fridge. You might not notice the smell because it's kept cold. but it obviously stuck in the bottle...
|
typical mexican bootleg water, if its labeled Evian its most likely not. If its labeled Naya its prolly not either...most Brand name bottled water there smells and tastes different, i can only imagine after time passes how it tastes lol
|
Well two hours is probably too short for the naturally occurring bacteria in your mouth to change the smell of the water.
So that only leaves demonic possession as the most likely explanation. :thumbsup Problem solved. You can relax now. |

I swear water starts to smell after a day or so! After you break the seal. It's odd, but I've smelt it before too!

I'll open a water, take a couple drinks, close it, it will sit for a couple days and I'll go for another drink. Never had anything like that happen before.
But, depending on the brand I've noticed that if you let the water sit for a while (couple weeks/months) the water starts to taste like plastic. It's pretty gross. Because of that I usually buy Arrowhead, the generic stuff usually tastes like plastic. |
Were you using the bottle to anally pleasure yourself and forgot? :)

Actually bottled water is highly regluated here. Trust me. And the brand I buy has a great rep. It tastes great, and Im as picky as they come! I promise. |

Sounds like a plan:)~ |
It is the plastic bottle in my opinion. I can't drink bottled water and I honestly don't see how anyone else can. I'm sure I can't be the only person on this earth who finds bottled water disgusting. The plastic gives it a smell and taste that prevents me from drinking from it no matter how thirsty I am. A half empty bottle or jug (like the water coolers at work) only make it worse. I wish they had glass bottles!

GOD! I WISH WE DID TOO! Id pay 3x the price for glass:( POut:( |

i had some bottles of water in my car when it was -35 here when they warmed up the water had some white particles floating around in it and tasted very bad...
I later read an article by a university prof when u freeze water in plastic container or heat up food in plastic dish there is something bad release from the plastic which in the long run can cause u cancer |
don't freezee watter in plastic bottles and heat things up in microwave using dishes made from something other then plastic

It didnt smell like bleach at ALL. Ive been thinking about it and it smelled kind of like petroleum. And the cap was on tight, I have a thing about putting caps on tight:)~ And I know what bad breath smells like, it was nothing like that. SIgh.... the mystery lives on! |
Quote:
Dont worry I dont have a microwave:)~ |
Petroleum = plastic. I tell ya, that is what the smell was...it seems to become more apparent when the bottle is less than full. Almost like it is more concentrated since there is less water.

I have no idea, sounded like a good answer though :winkwink: |
Never heard of that happening before
|
thats a new one on me too, dont know what to tell you
|
wtf is cristal water? i will be sure to never buy if i see it!!
|
Crystal brand water?
The guy that owns that and Belikin Beer in Belize is pretty cool... =) |
Did you drink it straight from the bottle? If so, it may be your lipstick/lip gloss, once you put the cap back on it will stink up the top of the bottlle (where you put the cap) when you remove the cap, it airs out and the smell will be faint.
Don't know if it's a combination of lipstick/lip gloss and bacteria, but it may be the case. |

It's happened to me a couple of times too, once every hundred or so bottles, my *theory* is that with these whiffy bottles there is some bacteria in them from the source (I drink natural spring water) that once opened reacts with the air and turns it ick, so that when your first drink it it's fine but when you go back the chemical reaction makes it stinky - I'm probably wrong but that's what I put it down to.
PS - when this has happened before it always smells/tastes sulphuric - maybe it's the odd bottle getting too much sulphur in a concentrated amount??? PPS - just looked at the bottle sat on my desk beside me and it has a 'typical analysis' of 7 mg/litre of sulphate at source |
It could be your upper-lip. :winkwink:
|
Maybe someone came in and went pee-pee in it :1orglaugh
Saw it on tv before :Graucho |
