Using Skin Traffic content/site names to push other sites...

This is really starting to piss me off. We spend thousands and thousands of dollars every week developing our exclusive content and building our sites brand names. Then I start doing some searching around the Internet and find all kinds of cute little sites using our branded names to market other sites.

Anytime I find someone using our content in a way that we don't allow I go straight to their host and sponsor. That isn't a problem. My question is... can I do the same with people using our branded site names?

unless its copyrighted I doubt you can.

beemk 05-29-2004 04:37 PM

branded site names? do you mean using it to steal search engine traffic or what?

Search engine traffic, PPC traffic, I've seen some other stuff. But basically yeh. Not only that, but I'm seeing links that say "Angels of Porn" that point to completely different sites.

fucken theif's

SoBeGirl Video 05-29-2004 04:59 PM

Some SoBeGirl content is so affordable that webmasters prefer just to buy it than steal it. It is easier to buy it :-)

bawdy 05-29-2004 05:05 PM

you will need to trademark your site names... then you can control how the site name is used...

goodluck to ya though

If you have a trademark on your names and other marks, then you can go after them, same way you can using a copyright for content. Best thing to do is talk to a good IP (intellectual property) lawyer about trademarks.

Most likely they aren;t out to fuck you.. you are just showing up in search results with that name and people are like.. hrmm.. good amount of searches.

Take a look at this guy, he's stealing your traffic from strokejobs.com Link to cached page!

It looks like he's having fun stealing traffic from several other sites too :( you should report the cloaked URL to Google!

{fusion} 05-30-2004 07:13 AM

bit over optimized that site :) think he will be blacklisted next crawl anyway.

but yeah sucks for sly

McKracken 05-30-2004 07:33 AM

he is a scumbag...

he is stealing alot of traffic this way. He get your sitename listed high with spam and cloake and then redirects to sponsor. He is also buying ppc trafic this way.

fucking leecher!

and its pretty lame bangbros keep accepting the traffic even after getting the info on the guy!

evildick 05-30-2004 07:40 AM

Edit - nevermind, I can't read.

I wish that was the case. These guys build pages and rank highly for terms like "Angels of Porn" and "Stroke Jobs", then send ALL of the traffic to other programs by links or cloaking.

Yesterday I found a guy buying PPC traffic for "Stroke Jobs" and he's sending it to Yank My Crank. It's frustrating to say the least.

Yeh, this guy is another one of those SE spammers. There are several of them right here on GFY. Most of the spammers are in it for the quick buck and will get outranked shortly anyway.

This is a good topic, but unfortunately it happens to everyone.

once you go major you lose all rights to shit like that it seems.

sites like "Cum Fiesta" - you dont think they suffer some serious damages due to search engine folks targetting their jkeywords for dialers?

wont change,...

AMADude 05-30-2004 02:02 PM

Yes, there is nothing you can do unless you trademark your site and slogans.
If someone uses Playboy in the site or even meta tages etc they can be sued.
