I'm not sure it's common that black is better, as white text on darker backgrounds can be harder to read compared to black text on lighter backgrounds..

I personally prefer black backgrounds on everything simply because i find it easier on the eyes, although when it comes to design, I don't like it on things like teen sites etc.Comment

I agree. For a while I used to use Windows with a black background theme, so Word and everything was all black with white text. Much better on the eyes.i like GFY because of the black background which doesnt hurt my eyes at night.Comment

I have seen studies that said white on black is harder on the eyes. and just my opinion but people read faster and easier if it is what they are used to. White background black text here.Comment
