Very nice monument. Those men died for something a great deal more honorable than a President's greed.

wow that's very impressive...and I find it really important, that this cruel and disastrous time will never be forgotten, as a reminder of how easy it is to destroy; and how difficult to keep peace!

Some estimates actually go as high as 60 Million casualties.

Hard to conceive.

What is mind blowing is when it started in July of '37 when Japan invaded China that the Japanese actually believed they could conquer the Chinese.

It's easy. Say it with me. "Nice monument"

The monument was built to remember the fallen soldiers and sailors who fought for something they believed in. Back in the day when the entire nation was UNITED, doing everything in its power to help the war effort.

I would much rather be sure that those men who died are well-remembered. I believe that's what this monument is for; to help generations of people remember a time when war was hell, when a country stood united instead of divided, when it wasn't a question of war being right or wrong, but of supporting the troops who had to fight it.

Men died and I thank them for giving themselves to make sure that I would be free, and that future generations would be free of Hitler's regieme. The few surviving WWII veterans are living history. Sit down and talk to some of them and hear what war was really like.

THEN talk about scary.

They made a damn good try.

It's difficult to look at that site. The Japanese military went beyond being savages. I saw in some pics they were slicing pregnent Chinese women open and then putting the unborn babies on their bayonets.

Any WWII veterans post to GFY? They're aren't many of them left these days. My grandpa is still kickin. He gave me some cool WWII stuff when I was a kid I still have. A canteen with strap, a bag for bullets, and some bullet casings. He also gave me a bag full of clay marbles from when he was a kid.

Nows the time to honor the ww2 vets, not to make whiny political rants. Extremists muslims are much more of a threat to the usa than Germany ever was.

Those were very strong and brave men. I think we all need to take time to remember them all.

Not many around. They were saying on CNN that about 1,100 WWII vets die each day now because of old age.

13 Million Americans were in WWII. Can you imagine if that happened today. Whoa.

there's only like 4,000 stars on the wall, little less then 1 per fallen soldier, considering well over 50 million people died during the war

I think Muslims mostly just want control of their whole neighborhood in the Middle East and getting rid of Israel. Once that is accomplished if it ever is, the Muslims will settle down significantly.

If we stopped supporting Israel tomorrow, the terrorism against the US would stop for the most part.

It's a beautiful monument, and will be a very important part of our history. I'm going to visit it soon myself - those vets stopped the atrocities of Hitler and the holocaust.

Fox News is showing a tour of the Memorial. It looks absolutely amazing.

I think the extremists are as insane as Hitler was, yes.

As they have never lived in peace, I highly doubt erasing Israel from the face of the map (their immediate goal) would make much difference.

Germany never declared war on us until Japan did, should we have stayed uninvolved in the ETO and just let Hitler do his thing?

All the Muslims I've talked to say the same thing, they want the US to stop supporting Israel and Israel destroyed. That's there agenda. I've not heard a single one I've ever talked to say they want to conquer the United States or Europe.

I'm not saying all terrorism would stop. But 90% would end if the Israeli situation was settled. That's been the driving force of anger for as long as I can remember.

Well the ones I've talked to, say otherwise. These are American Arabs I've met in business so maybe they don't share the same opinions as the Arab Arabs over there.
