Jerusalem is barely an hour out of Tel Aiv and you really shouldn't miss seeing the Old City. If you don't have a car, there are buses and cheap "sherut" taxis going back and forth all the time. At this time of the year, you will appreciate a break from the heat and humidity in Tel Aviv too.

And BTW, try the Gold Star beer... not great, but better than the Maccabi p*ss :)

I lived in Israel for 12 years... I think I know how to get around...
also last time I went to jerusalem it took around 2 1/2 hours from natanya in a car...
a bus will take an hour more.

don't listen to the media...they make it sound like Israel is a war zone but it's far from that.
