I started the south beach diet this week~

I already shreeded six pounds and it allows me to eat lobster, shrimp, fish and all the good foods I already enjoy. I joined the website and after several question gave me a shopping list for my food intake. I am gonna see how it goes for a month and continue on after that if the results keep coming. Is there anyone on this diet or have tried it before? Give me some tips. thanks, BT:winkwink:

Haven't even heard of it before.. hows it work?

fiftyfingers 05-29-2004 07:08 AM

I think the trick will be keeping the pounds off once you're no longer on the South Beach diet.

Is it not the same for every diet and exercise program?

I agree but the trick would be to stay on the diet and keep fit:thumbsup

Why is lots of garlic in the Atkins diet?

It's really just a "Atkins-Lite" type of diet with a little modification here and there..like, you can eat certain types of breads and pasta every other day or something to that effect. But still very similar.

hottoddy 05-29-2004 01:29 PM

South Beach is just Atkins-lite (for folks who don't like to admit they're on Atkins).

Good stuff BT! How's your hair btw, did you make it the whole month or is it still growing?

Atkins is dead.
He died in the age of 72, he was thin and very drowsy.
I preffer Montiniac. He offers wide range of food. You can eat meat and you'd still loose weight.
Got damn, how is 10lbs in a week for a loss of weight? I'm never hungry, I eat A LOT.
Food to avoid: Bread, sugar, anything sweet that has sugar in it, no potatos either.
Food to eat: Decaf Coffee, Green tea, fresh juice, chicken (even fried, but not like in KFC, no bread), fish (any), vegetables (Any, but potatos). Brown rice, tartar, beans (if you like them).
Fruits of corse. No alcohol.
10 lbs in a week guys. And you aren't hungry at all. I think its worth it.

You have to make a lifestyle, if you do it will be a great success . If you dont then dont bother losing it in the first place, it will all come back.

Biggy2 05-29-2004 02:35 PM

these diets are pretty good at marketing, to be honest - they're all the same thing - EAT HEALTHY. :)

you think atkins would recomend eating bacon sandwiches all day long - NO, he pretty much tells you to eat healthy, chicken, turkey breast, etc.

thats all it is. :2 cents:

they overcomplicate it a little bit, and market it correctly.

Garlic is very healthy... even the Roman legionists have got part of their salary in garlic because it helps as a natural antibiotic, with worms (so they got wine too instead of water at the time of the Roman empire) and with cholesterol level... I love it and you can take it in capsules or whatever if your stomach is too weak.

I don't know much about the south beach diet. I loosley follow the zone ( trying to follow the concept of 30% fat, 30% protein, 40% carbs) but I mean it is all common sense. Eat smaller portions, eliminate white flour and sugar, and exercise!
Good luck with south beach if it's working for you though!

Been on it for about 2 months now. I've lost over 22 lbs and feel great.
It actually is more of a lifestyle change than a diet. It's pretty easy to maintain too. I pretty much eat anything I want at this point. Lets say I eat some cookies or pie or some other bad shit, I just make up for it on the following days by going to phase 1.

The thing that saved me, was when i saw you could have sugar free fudgsickles.

Stick with it!!!
