Should Canada give refuge to U.S. Deserters?

Should Canada give refuge to U.S. Deserters?

We did it in Vietnam, should we do it now too ?

EviLGuY 05-28-2004 06:25 AM

Fuck em.. we don't want em either. :)

Lycanthrope 05-28-2004 06:26 AM

Hell no they shouldn't. Nor should any country for anybody for that matter.

From the country's point of view - why would you want some piece of shit that won't even back up his own country?

My thoughts on the deserters themselves?

A) Vietnam - as there was a draft, you could MAYBE feel some sympathy for draft dodgers or deserters. Forced into something you don't want to do is never fun. I still feel if you want to live in a country and that requires you do do something for it, you do it, but my feelings aside, I can at least appreciate that situation.

B) Now - they volunteered. They volunteered to be a part of the miliatary. But now that they are actually required to perform military duties they split? Fuck that. They should be thrown in prison for 10 years to make them appreciate what they abandoned...

TweetyBird 05-28-2004 06:26 AM

I don't believe it would actually "help"...

Hal 05-28-2004 06:30 AM

Nope, I don't think they should either.

The soldiers get training, money and help with college.

They were never FORCED to join the forces.

Martin 05-28-2004 06:32 AM

Sure why not.

Yeah but it's not like nobody with a brain don't know we got lied into the Iraq war. Would you go die for a lie ?

Enema 05-28-2004 07:55 AM

Their job is not to question the motive.

Merely to die for the bucks they were paid. Fodder is as fodder does.

NinjaBen 05-28-2004 08:09 AM

rocki 05-28-2004 08:17 AM

i would say NO... they made a choice and they will have to live with it... if they were running from something they had no choice over then i would say yes...
