does anyone have any suggestions about what would be a romantic thing to do for your girl for valentines day? ive been trying to come up with something but been having trouble. Im thinking... candy? flowers?
but fuck that...

Give her a gift certificate to a really nice day spa for women. Dont be cheap, let her get the whole works, massage, facial, makeover etc.. Then its off to dinner at a resturant that you have to dress to get in.
Wine before & after dinner, arrange to have the flowers delivered during desert.
Do not talk about sports, porn, old girlfriends nor ask if she "wants to fuck".
Rent a video, not porno, but a "chick flick"
that she has been wanting to see & watch it with her without making any comments about it being stupid. This is better if you can snuggle up with her in front of the fireplace while watching.
The day after Valentines, give her a gift certificate to a maid service & have them come in & clean her apt. or house, do the laundry etc. Also, more flowers the day after

One week later, more flowers to celebrate the "anniversery" of your wonderful evening together.

A day at the spa works for me. That's one of my favorite things. Don't forget, not only do you have to cover the cost of the day, but all the tipping as well. (and there's a lot)

I usually do the whole candy, flowers, jewlry, dinner thing. I also wrote my wife a poem last Valentine's Day (our first together - we're still newlyweds) and she claims that was her favorite gift. I believe her because she has mentioned it several times since.

Don't worry if poetry isn't your thing...it's the thought that counts...just do someting that comes from the heart...a picnic in the park or something...spending a lot of money on a woman does not tell her you love her...it tells her you took the easy way out (but spend the money anyway...hehe).

You'll spend a whole day planning for this and you have to make sure that it's totally organized. First, pick about 5-10 different shops that offer romantic gifts. Go to each one and buy something like a bottle of champagne at one place, some nice glasses at another, lingerie, maybe have a big cookie made at the bakery with her name on it, etc etc etc.......

Now, make sure you arrange for these items to be picked up at the register by her and make sure there's a note attached to each item with instructions on where to go next. you're asking what to get without telling us what she's like. getting a generic gift is never gonna get you the same points as one that's about her.

for example, a day at the spa for me would = a waste of money. my boyfriend buys me bass equipment but that probably wouldn't work for her ;-)

you could take her to her favorite place (no bitching about it!) and give her a nice piece of jewelry that fits her personality... take her somewhere amazing (there are some hotel rooms in big sur that are built in trees)...

there are no perfect "woman gifts". why not really look at what she enjoys and base what you get her on her lifestyle?

Its december 2003 - you got more than enough time to worry about valentines, if your present for christmas isnt any good, then maybe she'll leave you and your headaches will be over on what to get her for valentines.
