So who didn't know Fantasia was going to win?

It was pretty apparent.

But I find it funny how the judges try to slant the view of the audience.

The night they're singing their songs both of them are required to sing the song that the winner will release.

However after the DeGarmo girl sings it first Simon makes comments about how she's only 16 doesn't have much life experience and he doesn't understand why she's singing a song that a 50 year old should sing

Now mind you this is a song she's required to sing.

And then of course Fantasia gets up and she's only 19 sings the song and what does Simon say..."That was your acceptance speech."

Oh well...maybe they'll have some real talent this next season.

I agree

Strife 05-27-2004 06:58 PM

It was pretty close. Fantasia won by less than 2 million votes out of 65 million

Jimmie 05-27-2004 07:18 PM

why did we have to be exposed to that green dress tho?:(

I think Fantasia rocks, her voice is so unusual. Without getting into things too much, and if you can remember them singing the songs I think you will understand what Simon meant.

Diana sang it to the audience, she smiled, she looked at them. Fantasia looked up towards the sky a lot, almost like it was a gospel song. Diana sang the words, Fantasia showed she lived them. There have been no real details given, but Fantasia did mention she had been "through some things" and that she worked hard and it payed off. An uncle said that "Fantasia has been through a great deal of hardship, she was always determined though to make something of herself". Fantasia is young too, only 19, but her daughter looks to be around 3..maybe 4...having a child at such a young age sure gives you a different perspective on life. Who knows what other things she has gone through to make her sing with the depth of emotion she does.
