I cant imagine who would want to be a cop. seems like life is one long list of getting rules jammed up your ass anyway, who the hell would want to be the fist up everyones ass all the time, know what I mean, someone has to...hehe.

I respect anyone willing to risk their lives for others as well....just think its scary that someone can be given all the power the police are given with just a GED.

for example, chicago cops used to have to have a bachelors... now its an associate degree... but are still held to a much higher standard than most.

Chicago also has a very unique police/law enforcement history. I'm sure they hold the police to higher standards partially because of that.

I am sure that's true: both my grandpa and my stepdad were cops and neither one of them graduated from high school.

Michael Moore even did a little story about a guy who was TURNED DOWN for a cop job because he tested too HIGH on his iq -- they said guys like that don't know how to follow orders, make quick decisions, etc. :1orglaugh

And a physical and a polygraph and a stess test, and oh yeah, you have to complete a minimum number of traning hours at a police academy. Most acedemys require MORE hours than a college degree.

I think cops should have more than a GED for sure. That is a little crazy to me :helpme

FACT: Average hours needed for a college (assoc.) degree = 96-120

FACT: Average hours for a police academy certificate = 450-600

FACT: THis is how stupidity is spread amongst people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Like I said, my stepdad and my grandpa both were cops AND NEITHER ONE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL. Has nothing to do with "believing anything I read on GFY", has to do with growing up with cops in my family - I don't have to "look into" anything to know the level of education in my family.

i remember they had a radio ad on here in phoenix that stated you could be a cop if you had your GED and no 'hard' drug use. :1orglaugh
