Celeron good for game machine?
I'm building a machine just for games... mostly for MAME but also for some 3d games
Will a fast celeron be ok? Games is ALL this machine will be running. Going with a good geforce card to handle the video and about a gig of ram |
nah, go with a p4 :2 cents:
|
umm to play MAME games all you need is like an 500mhz processor.

Isn't xbox a celeron?

Go with P4 or AMD 64! Those would be the best for right now! Celeron wouldn't be worth a shit!

A native xbox is a p3. You can buy modded boxes with 1.4 ghz celerons in them though |
I have a Celeron PC and it held up quit well with games when I used it but, I would recommend a P4 2.6c processor. They're good CPU's and they are gods for overclocking. :2 cents:

XBOX is a Celeron but the games run fine because they are specifically programmed for the machine. For games/photoshop etc. the Celeron sucks big time. Buy AMD/P4 instead.

AMD all the way :thumbsup

There is basically NO price difference between a celeron and an althlon xp.. so for more bang for your buck I'd get the AMD.
Truth be told a celeron makes an okay gaming rig.. most of the fancy stuff is games is done by your graphics card. |
