Normally, this would be laughable. However, what's the US going to do if Iran decides to come across the border?

Personally I think the Bush Administration wouldn't be that upset by the prospect if this happened after reelection. They are itching to take out as many ME nations as they can, but Iraq really stalled potential attacks on Syria, and perhaps even Iran. That said though, Iran is a pretty formidable force so their could be some nerves about going into an all out war.

All the smaller middle eastern countries are much more afraid of us, than we are of them. Not saying the USA is invincible, cause it definitely isn't, but the USA is bigger, has more weapons, etc.

There's a rumour going on now that one of the main source of information on the WMD search may have been manipulating the US into exterminating Iran's biggest ennemy.

There is nothing in that article that says anything about Iran threating us "or else". Those fuckers are sitting scrared, I will admit it would be a tough thing if Iran decided to attack. However they aren't that dumb, they know we would level their cities and free them too.

Its not the American Military machine that has gone haywire its the American leadership system, so maybe Iran had just better shut the fuck up.

The United States forces is not spread "thin". We have 130k troops in Iraq. That's less than 1/4 of the US Marine Corps - the smallest unit of our armed forces. Trust me, there is lots more to go around.

Iran isn't about to do anything. Seems to tme that it would be pretty stupid for Iran to attack Iraq when we have such a large concentration of troops there.

The whole thing about nuclear weapons is that they'll never be used. This is what saved us during the cold war. If Iran was to lob a nuclear bomb into Iraq or even Isreal, the return volley from the US would be ten fold - and would turn Iran into a huge glass parking lot for the next thousand years.
