Serious Thread: How do you motivate yourself?

If say, you just don't feel like working, how do you put your lazy ass to it?

Spudman 05-26-2004 02:30 AM

newbreed 05-26-2004 02:31 AM

I just start doing stuff. I hate it some times, and I am a huge procrastinator (as is Arika) but once I get into doing the work, I hate to stop. I just keep telling myself it will be a new learning experience or I convince myself to at least try something new and it just starts to happen.

Excellence 05-26-2004 02:34 AM

Anthony mother fucking robbins. AMAZING.

EviLGuY 05-26-2004 03:01 AM

Just use enough willpower to get yourself started. I find thats the hard part..

Definitely. Don't even think about what you have to do, just open a folder and get started. The next thing you know it will be done and you can fuck around reloading stats all day.

I Just Think About The Money.. Normally Works For Me.

B40 05-26-2004 04:44 AM

Hardest part is just getting started. Doing the work is not hard, but doing work instead of doing something else more appealing is. So, like the slogan for Nike, just do it.

TheMob 05-26-2004 04:44 AM

i wish someone sold Motivation Pills. my procrastination's gonna kill me one day.

pimplink 05-26-2004 04:57 AM

I get motivation from above.

ocho-ocho 05-26-2004 04:58 AM

by thinking of my baby's future....

Firehorse 05-26-2004 05:15 AM

I am highly self motivated. I focus on my family, my goals, and my dreams! :thumbsup

StRoGE 05-26-2004 05:38 AM

Just take it one step at a time. Make the decision to do it, and slowly do it. Once you start you'll find it hard to stop until you've accomplished whatever you wanted to.

acuk 05-26-2004 05:40 AM

take a step back. Switch the screen off and write myself a
'to do' list. Then cross off the jobs as i do them through the day.
Yes i know it's lame but it works for me 95% of the time..
:)

Smurfette 05-26-2004 05:53 AM

Every day I keep track of the money we make, when I notice that go down a bit we jump into work again, hard now though with the nice weather and seeing how much work has to be done on the house and taking care of 2 small children. Plus have to stay away from reading this board and I get much more done :(

Smurfette

HowlingWulf 05-26-2004 06:27 AM

I look at my stats and cry. I always want more.

Seriously I have a 'to-do' list which I prioritize and work
on during the day. It makes me feel like I accomplished something. It helps.

TheMob 05-26-2004 06:42 AM

a todo list is a good idea.. i'll have to start doing that!

plyndrty 05-26-2004 06:44 AM

I need to find some motivation. I have been in a slump for months.:(

rowan 05-26-2004 06:47 AM

The first season of "The Apprentice" is currently showing in Australia... I feel really motivated after watching an ep of that. I think it's probably more the business tricks and tips that excite me rather than the lavish lifestyle that Mr. T leads. :)

Bomber8888 05-26-2004 06:52 AM

I say to myself make when your young and you have the opportunity or once u get older it might pass you by. Once you have a family you can't take the risk no more.

DESIREbyDESIGN 05-26-2004 07:00 AM

Ask yourself if the task at hand is life giving or life taking. If your answer is the later consider a different way to approach the same task or do something you consider life giving and come back to it.

Ask yourself "What does your big picture look like?"

"What role does you not doing something right now have upon it?"

Life is all about challenge.

cayne 05-26-2004 08:35 AM

Fletch XXX 05-26-2004 10:18 AM

some might not undertand this, but a little herbs and i can zone out in dreamweaver or photoshop, i never really lack motivation unless I am dealing with stressful non work related issues. Just had to go through a death i the family here and that zapped some motivation but as far as day to day work is concerned, I honestly cant say I ever lack the motivation to work. Sure I might feel lazy like some, but i pretty much work 7 days a week and am non stop, I barely sleep, and am usually always doing something work releated unless I am totally away and off line, away from keyboard so to speak. I cant even sit at my computer and not do something work releated... and i have multipler machines here hahah

my motivation comes in the day to day struggle of simply living.

I look at sales from a while back and see how bad they were, I then look at sales from the previous 2 months and see how good they are. I want it to stay that way, I wanna make more and more. Usually works for me. :)
