How do you count your ratio?

Hi,

Im looking at my perfectgonzo stats, and it says my ratio is 1:801 which im happy with. But, thats if you go by the join page stats, not the first page stats. If i go by the first page stats its about 1:1500

Now, this is all TGP traffic so I guess both are OK ratios, but it makes me wonder... its all unique clicks, the surfer knows what he is getting its no blind hits. So shouldnt it actually be calculated with the first page hits?

Are they calculating it on the join page hits by purpose to keep the ratio stats down, or am i wrong?

1 in 800 for join page hits is pretty pathetic... :2 cents:

Im on 1:200 with another sponsor but it seem i cant get that low with perfectgonzo.

here's how i calculate mine:
money + time invested / income generated

1:800 join page is what a lot of people see for TGP/MGP traffic. A size 7 "Download free trialers" link will obviously get you different numbers than "Click here and get your membership".

The first page and 2nd page numbers you see are exactly what's counted inside the system. A click on the exit console is counted as an *ADDTIONAL* unique click since we treat it as a unique product. Nothing's changed or enhanced to make the numbers look any different from what they really are.

Some sponsors count 2nd page in the first place and never even display first page uniques. Others make clicks magically dissapear so the ratios look better. Take the time to install a Perl/PHP click counter, count your own outgoing clicks, compare them with sponsor stats. Then decide which sponsor gives you the best $/click ratio.

thats too many join page clicks for uniques.... you must mean SECOND PAGE clicks not join page.... or do they not have a tour?

TheSwed 05-26-2004 04:28 AM

sponsors that doesn't count first page hits is afraid to show their real ratio because its to shitty

Sexy Rex 05-26-2004 04:46 AM

We calculate with first page uniques / sales and my admin shows an average of 1/403 today for VirtuaGirl and 1/158 for our new VirtuaGuy. This is on ALL incoming traffic, including TGP and all :)

Yes, join page.
Yes, they have a 3 page tour.

Reak 05-26-2004 05:38 AM

We count by first page hits.

And we have a average ratio at 1:400/1:500

Sponsors like 10dollarcash, discountpassbucks count the ratio from the join page hits.

:)

Yes. It definately makes their stats look better. That's why we track all hits sent to a sponsor, not what they report, this is the true calculation of ratios and traffic value. Webmasters need to know just how much traffic they are really sending.
