I'm trying to make some abisinthe this weekend but where da FUCK do I find this shit?
 

I found a recipe for non-distilled abisinthe and I want to try making it but I haven't heard of the ingredients and I wouldn't have a clue where to find them. Can I find shit like this at a health food store?

One ounce dried chopped wormwood
One tablespoon angelica root
One teaspoon hyssop
One half teaspoon coriander seeds
One quarter teaspoon caraway seeds
One pinch cardomon pods
One tablespoon fennel or anise seeds
750 ml. 151 rum


And of course I know where to get the rum but where in the hell am I supposed to go buy wormwood?

Try a witch store. Psychic Eye Book Store. Look it up.

You should be able to get the last 4 things at a nice grocery store, especially if you have one of those fancy-pants, yuppie stores around. As for the others.. umm... grow your own? :) We have a few artemesia absinthe plants next to the deck in the backyard.

That or spring the money for shipping and buy a bottle of the real stuff online. That's what we do. :)

Yep, wormwood is VERY easy to grow and you might even be able to find starter plants at a (well-stocked) local nursery...it's getting a little late this year but shouldn't be impossible. It's probably not too late to start some plants from seed. The plants are very pretty but the scent does take some getting used to...the rest of the ingredients you should be able to purchase at a health food store or a place like Wild Oats.
