newbreed 05-25-2004 05:13 AM

Do they still make FrontPage?

WatchingPorn 05-25-2004 05:13 AM

kazaa probably has it

StRoGE 05-25-2004 05:22 AM

Not many people use frontpage anymore. Dreamweaver is supposed to be better. I still use notepad for the majority of my stuff though. Its quicker and less troublesome.

Same here, You can't get frontpage for free unless maybe when you bought your pc and the software came with it. There are however html editors that are free and should do what you are looking for. Or of course you can download the demos.

Agreed. Just use Dreamweaver. Far easier to use. And try and pick up some html knowledge while you're at it.

eroswebmaster 05-25-2004 06:28 AM

I just use my mind.

I learned psychic code as a child in a military test facility deep within Comanche Peak.

Anyway the code is cleaner than Frontpage and no need for an ftp program.

mandrake 05-25-2004 06:52 AM

Front page is part of office 2000...i still use it even though i can use dreamweaver i just find frontpage to be quicker for layout.

jf2404 05-25-2004 06:56 AM

i have windows xp home edition, with microsoft works already installed , will i have it on my pc ?, i did a search through the files for frontpage and nothing came up.

who said i'm making a porn site ?, i asked here coz you guys are the best webmasters, thanks for the replies (apart from the last prick).

Here?s the workaround? of course Kazza is always an option?

Your host is using a Windows server and wants to see the upload via port 80, not 21 or FTP like most of the Dreamweaver folks use, since it?s common to run an FTP server using linux.

If you can?t find frontpage, you can use any editor (even Word, just save as .html) and use the Web Publishing Wizard under Accessories in Windows. There is an option to specify via port 80 with FrontPage Extensions included, but it normally works AOK.

Remember to name your first page default.

If on the other hand you want the ease of inserting funny scrolling text, forms, any other cool features you will have to use a copy of Frontpage to get the full effect.

Good luck with your site

WebGuyChris 05-25-2004 10:23 PM

something changed with the sigs? have not posted in a while...

machinegunkelly 05-25-2004 10:55 PM

NO DONT USE FRONTPAGE USE NOTEPAD

Lycanthrope 05-25-2004 11:02 PM

While Front Page MIGHT be nice to get a visual feel for things. It pretty much sucks and fucks up vital code. Learn some html and get this: http://www.editplus.com/ great text editor and has an html preview mode...

Sausage 05-25-2004 11:07 PM

Coded my pages up for years on notepad, but frontpage is good. I can quickly do up the page in frontpage, save it and then fix it up in notepad. Takes half the time.

Never liked dreamweaver, but I suppose once you learn a program you stick with it.

Mr. Marks 05-25-2004 11:08 PM

Why frontpage?

WebGuyChris 05-25-2004 11:11 PM

If you use Dreamweaver you will need a plugin

http://www.macromedia.com/support/dr...publishweb.htm

which may not be available with the Kazza version...

That is only if you are on a Windows Server. And that is another thing that sucks ass.

Frontpage is easy to use full stop. nothing to do with being a nooby.

I personally can use both eaqualy as well however as i do most of my major stuff in photoshop frontpage is more than sufficiant as a layout tool. Having said all that i still use a seperate ftp program cause the frontpage publishing tool sucks balls.

acuk 05-26-2004 06:01 AM

frontpage?, notepad?

My :2 cents:

Dreamweaver every time
