Support your local drive-in before they all disappear!

http://www.driveinmovie.com/mainmenu.htm

Check the site above to see if you have a drive-in theater near you. They are slowly disappearing due to lack of support. Most people these days have never been to a drive-in and don't know how much fun they are.

For you potheads, you can can smoke pot and watch a movie.

For you drunk, you can drink a watch a movie.

For the rest of you perverts, you can have sex in public while you watch a movie.

I think there's only one left in metro Melbourne (AU). I recently found a road map from the mid 60s online, and it actually has a dedicated subsection that lists drive-in theatres. Shows you how much they were a part of life back then; there are 19 listed.

We used to go when I was a kid, so when I moved here to Indy and found one nearby, I started supporting it. I even buy the overpriced snacks at the concession stand. I think it would suck for the next generation to never have the drive-in experience. It's as American as apple pie and baseball.

I make a point of going 1-2 times a year to the one we have out here. Generally to movies I dont really car about watching.

I have never been to a drivein, and from that site it looks like there is one is the last city I lived in. didn't even know it existed. Gotta check it out next time I go visit. Awesome link! :thumbsup

I love drive-ins!

smokingdawn 05-25-2004 12:59 AM

Unfortunately most have disapeared

I loved going to drive-ins as a kid. They sold you that little bug-repelling incense to put in your car window and you clip the speakers to the door to hear the movie... I feel nostalgic.

Our drive-in has been gone for years. Wish they would open up another one though. Loved the drive-in.

I saw American Pie 3 there and it was a pretty good time. My GF had never been to a drive-in so it was an experience. :thumbsup

Drive-ins are the best. In '95 I was friends with the son of the owner of the local drive-in. I must have seen Batman Forever a half-dozen times.

There's a drive-in not half a mile from where I live now and I haven't been yet. Thanks for the reminder - will have to go soon. ;)

Peaches 05-25-2004 06:57 AM

I love going to the drive ins! Starting going as a kid, went all through college, after I was married and divorced and now there's still one about 20 minutes away :)

sumphatpimp 05-25-2004 07:01 AM

drive ins are a great place to feed the misquitoes.

cool1 05-25-2004 07:29 AM

We almost lost the last one here
but 11,000 people jumped on the bandwagon and sign a petition to keep it open.
Now if all those folks had just come to the drive-in last year
there would have been no need for a petition and the drive-in would never have thought about closing.
People are just plain stupid sometimes.

Basic_man 05-25-2004 07:31 AM

I'm always going to see some movies in the summer

DR_PHIL 05-25-2004 07:38 AM
