$50 banner design contest

It's been a while since I saw a banner design contest, so I decided to start one.

Here is the deal, I want a 468x60 banner (or close to that), it doesn't matter if the banner is static or animated as long as it is hot.

Please don't make the file size too big (try to make it close to 30kb, banners over 60kb won't stand a chance).

The site is: http://tranza.allowednet.com/, you can use any pic in there to create the banner.

Winner will get US$50 thought paypal once I receive the PSD files used to create the banner. And the name of the fonts used.

Note: All entries may be used by me once this contest is over, even if you didn't win.

Contest will end on June 2nd. So you guys have plenty of time, I'll bump this thread once a day.

Get your banners done!!

Cool. $50 isn't bad for a banner.

Oh, I just read the "All entries may be used by you" ... I don't think you'll really get anyone submitting.. though best of luck with that...

50$ sound good for a banner design contest.

I don't like the idea of someone using my stuff for free & profiting from it if i don't get anything in return.

I hardly ever enter a contest, simple don't have the time to waste. And with this one the "All entries may be used by me once this contest is over, even if you didn't win" part my beef either

The "I will use them all even if they don't win" disclaimer is an easier way to say. "I need 10 or 15 banners for only $50."

...I won't be entering either.

You'll get more entries if you change the part about using banners that don't win. I mean, it's already difficult to justify entering contests knowing that you might do alot of work and not win, but to know that your hard work will be used even if you don't win is a real slap in the face. I rarely enter contests with that rule.

You have three choices that I see, if you want to get more/better entries. You could either raise the prize offered to offset the risk of not being paid for work that may be used. You could remove the requirement of using the banners of those that don't win. Or you could offer a small prize for each banner that you choose to use that doesn't win the grand prize.

Good luck with your contest whatever you decide to do.

Well, I've seen lot's of people offering to do banners from $7-$15 here at GFY that I thought that $50 for a banner would be a good motivation to those designers...

And also to the newbie designers that don't have a portfolio, this is a nice chance to expose their designs as I'll be bumping this thread once a day and they'll get their work some exposure.

I could just take this $50 and buy myself 7 $7 banners, I've seen some of their designs and it doesn't suck at all....

Well, how about a contest where I pay $50 to the winner and $10 to everybody who enters and I decide to keep their banner if they didn't win?? Would that be better???

I'm just a newbie.

Most of the contest here that use that option are paying way more then the normal price ... Or have many winners .

A good flash banner is like 100 - 150 $ right now (One banner, I won't name it, that was advertised on this board costed over 600 $ to produce) .

So if you expect something really good for 50 $, you probably won't .

And I don't like the idea of giving something for free really ... If you'd say : "If you aren't the winner and I decide to pickup your work, you'll receive 10 $ for your banner", that would make more sence to me

7-15 $ banners are bullcrap that don't pull any clicks ... a good banner is way more expensive . Some designers can spend hours on a real good banner ... If you want a photoshop effect typical banner, I'l make one to you for free in 5 mins
