Huge FLOOD in MIchigan

I was wondering why the kids were outside playing this morning, when the school has been cancelled. We have been getting a lot of rain and it has flooded areas unbelievable. At the end of my street there is a mini van stuck in the flood, lol it is about half way in the water. The school was built on a flood plain, kind of nice. But the clinton river is all over the place and it is really bad.

I wonder if the people's lot price will go up in value, considering it is now a lake lot LOL

I have 6+ inches of water in my finished basment. Big screen doesn't work any more tons of damage to walls and couch. I am so pissed. :feels-hot

AMADude 05-24-2004 11:12 AM

Wow, what part of Detroit are you in Stasia?

Stasia 05-24-2004 11:24 AM

My dumbass forgot to post pictures to show you guys, so i just drove down the end of my street to get some good stuff. This part isn't so bad, but you can just see how the flood is. There is a farm down the raod with rescue units trying to save the livestock from drowning. There are parts of the area you cannot even get too. They said the flood goes anywhere from about 5-10 miles, almost hard to believe.

here is some pictures from the end of my street and the school that is like two streets over from me.

what part are you from? you must be close unless it is all over michigan from the rain.

Stasia 05-24-2004 11:36 AM

they have tons of news helicopters flying around taking pictures.. all the kids dont seem to mind it, they are bringing out pool toys like inner tubes, floats etc.. even a paddle boat.

you know kids to be honest can make even the biggest crisis fun and puts a smile upon your face :)

sad thing is most ppl dont pay the extra to have flood insurance considering they really dont look at the lots as being flood plains aside from the school. so i sure hope they are okay

My mom lives around Byron Center... and every day around this time of year they're under severe storm warnings.

I don't think I'd like living there at all.

Man that sucks!!!!

usually it isn't too bad here in the summer, it is just the part of getting to summer that can be sometimes crazy. Where i grew up it isn't too bad, nothing really crazy ever happens.. now that i built my own home, lol i think i picked the wrong area LOL

but my house isn't floating yet, nor is it near the water ... its still away away

My friend works for an insurance company and he told me before about claims, that insurance companies only give flood insurance if it is considered by the government flood plains area... otherwise you have to purchase flood insurance separately.

I heard Leamington (just north of Windsor) was flooded pretty bad last week too! lot of people had their basements flooded and everything. The rain has just been crazy lately in southern Ontario!
