When shopping for hosts...
Don't start threads immediately stating that you want to spend $XXX without leaving any details about what you need or why you need it. Please give more details about possible server specs, what kind of sites you're running, what kind of bandwidth you're pushing, ANY details at all will help both you and the possible hosting companies find a solution that best fits YOUR needs.
My short rant for the day, back to work. :thumbsup |

Although sounds like a good thing, many users will ignore this as they get the itchy trigger finger and when they type up that request post all they want is a new box. They can't be bothered to think what that box should be in terms of HW/BW and I think its acceptable, be happy he gave you a price range :) It's more than others give at times.

I see where you're coming from, kind of...
Here's the thing... I see threads with people asking for hosting and posting their price range. Then I see all the spam and nobody even thinks about asking "what does this guy really need?" Maybe he's only running some galleries and pushing 1-2 mbps. Sure I could try and sell him a box with 1-2 mbps for $500... but I like to sleep at night. |
I agree, it's like posting just "spam me with sponsors".

:2 cents: As with most transactions, the more information you make available to the salesman you are working with, the more likely he is to match you up with what you are looking for without wasting alot of time showing you products that don't meet your budget or specified requirements.
