What the hell happened to Disney cartoons?

When I was a kid we had great cartoons like Rescue Rangers, Tailspin, and the best Disney cartoon of all time, Duck Tales.

I've been watching the Disney channel tonight and they have shit like Dave the Barbarian and Brace Face. Are the cartoons dumbed down for this new generation of kids who are getting an even worse public education than we did?

Good question, although a lot of those lame ass Disney "made for tv movies" that they aired on the Disney channel won't be missed.

I think the downward spiral began when Disney stopped being creative and started putting out soulless versions of their movies as after school cartoons like Alladin. It was a very pale imitation of a movie that wasn't that great to begin with.

My favorite Disney movie as the Disney Christmas Carol. That one had heart and holds up to about 20 repeated viewings. They should bring back Scrooge and Donald and do a good movie that doesn't try to modernize the characters and make them "hip" like Quack Pack or whatever that last Donald Duck cartoon was called.

To be honest, it sort of annoyed me too but it's still heads and tails above the current crap they are putting out. Even gummi bears, that thinly veiled 30 minute candy commercial was a better show.

Seems like.. although I am sure the people that grew up on looney toons and woody woodpecker said the same thing back in the day.

Its a generational thing.

I read an artical awhile back that Disney was scraping their animation deprt and moving into a full cgi production.

This was i guess due to Pixar's contract being allmost up with Disney and they (Pixar) were not gonna renew their contract.

Now Honestly i have not heard anyhting more about this from disney after the intial PR about them switching to CGI but this might just explain why theirs nothing new in their toon dept.

I Watch their cartoon chan on the weekends with my kid and it's mostly just old re-runs, or bad new series stuff.

I don't give a damn about Disney, what I miss are all the cool Saturday Morning Cartoons that used to exist.

The odd time I actually wake up on a Sat morning now, the few cartoons left are terrible.

Duck Tales, I remember watching that shit all the time! Great show!
