Liberal values have been the past 100 years. Don't you think? Hell, one day we'll have socialized medicine here in the US.

One thing I wonder, some people always whine about their freedoms, but at the same time the same people want the government to wipe their ass for them.

With the Patriots Act, I saw liberalism given the boot in the US.

The Patriot Act is just the normal reaction to a threat that will come and go. Like Lincoln's suspension of Habeas Corpus, the Alien and Sedition Acts, McCarthyism, Japanese internment (Canadian or American) and on and on. Would you have proclaimed the same during any of these times?

The Patriot act passed the Senate 98-1 back when 9-11 was fresh in people's mind. Just the same as any such law has passed in history.

...I would really like to know what Tom Jefferson and Ben Franklin would say about this....

I think we already know the answer. Jefferson opposed the Alien and Sedition Acts. John Adams on the other hand was a huge proponent of them and was president when they were passed. Jefferson beat Adams in the next election and enforcement of the acts stopped.
