More thoughts on affiliate loyalty

After talking to people over the last few days about webmaster loyalty to a sponsor, I thought of a good analogy that I think fits best:

A new paysite is like a new song, where the sponsor is the recording artist. The affiliate is like a radio station.

A radio station will play the hell out of a new hit song, until their listeners don't request it anymore. When they stop playing the song, its got nothing to do with lack of "loyalty" to the recording artist. The probably still love the artist, and they look forward to playing their next song.

With this analogy, let me just say that we appreciate our affiliates. The traffic they've sent has got us to the level we are today.

The correct focus of a sponsor is to deliver good sites that affiliates can sell, then honestly and fairly compensate their affiliates for their efforts.

Thank you guys for your comments and for your support of Lightspeedcash.

Bang on Steve.

I think borrowing a page from the Nasty Dollars business model would benefit any program operator. Their sites are always hot, and they always convert. They don't do much in the way of affiliate bonuses, other than convert like hell, though. Wish they did a little more here .. But I guess do what you do best.

That being said, your sites all look great too. Only reason I haven't been promoting them is because of a Gentleman's non-competition agreement with a parter of mine who's already selling your stuff.

Treat affiliates well, and we'll keep spinning your new records.

:thumbsup

That's definitely the right and best approach to maintaining loyalty with not only affiliates, but also with surfers who are already members of the network of sites.

Cheers,
Matt

nice analogy... :thumbsup

mardigras 05-22-2004 12:37 PM

Following this analogy, consider hosted galleries and other promo tools the "45's" of the industry... some sponsors never release new ones and still expect album sales:glugglug

RicardoB 05-22-2004 12:40 PM

I have to agree on that :thumbsup

Do a "sorority girl spankings" site with your sweet stable of models and I could sell the hell out of it. Probably not mass market enough, but a kinkster can dream.

Matiz 05-22-2004 12:51 PM

great analogy

I think www.lightspeed18.com was their greatest hits album :winkwink:

gornyhuy 05-22-2004 02:26 PM

I think you are right, except that the "listeners" the general porn buying public generally has no idea who the "recording artist" is, they only know individual songs and have little to no brand loyalty except to the particular song they like. :2 cents:

Thats a good analogy. Although I hardly STOP promoting a site myself.. I dont have big sites with return visitors.. I might stop building new ones for that particular one though.
