htaccess hotlinking redirection

just a quick question about htaccess. i want to prevent users from hotlinking my files. for some reason my current htaccess file isn't working so i assume something is wrong with it, could someone point me to a page with the correct code i need.

i also want to redirect to another url when somene attempts to hotlink. what would i have to change to do that?
