Yo is there a GALLERY PROGRAM that can do this?
 

I have a template.

now for example the place i want the thumbs to be i put a variable like #thumb# and then it takes the thumbs and put em there and links em to the appropropriate big pic?

I don't know if a program like that exists, but why don't you just use the same file names?

thumbs/01.jpg - pics/01.jpg
thumbs/02.jpg - pics/02.jpg
...
thumbs/20.jpg - pics/20.jpg

This does that. It's not the best tool out there, but it does the trick. Cost me $5 and came with a bunch of ebooks and resale rights. Give it shot, ain't gonna cost you anything.

Don't give up, b/c I have seen programs that do that. I just can't recall offhand, b/c I still like to do a lot of things by hand.

Actually...the one I posted doesn't take your existing thumbs. It takes your big photos, makes thumbs and then does what you want.
