internet connection problems - please help!

ok, so this has been driving me insane lately and my isp is stupid. i have dsl and my internet connection constantly dies, i don't get disconnected but nothing at all will load. it does this all-day-long.

bell canada tells me i have perfecy sync on the phone line and they can't see anything wrong. i've tried several different modems all of which do the same thing. the guys at my isp say its probably my computer but all they suggest is to check for spyware which i always do anyhow.

does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? i can't even get any work done because it does this every 2-5 minutes! is there anything on my computer i could check that might be conflicting with my connection?

may be a firewall problem..

that messed up mine..

Could be network card, network wire to the modem, could be a worm. Get someone who is good with computers to come there and troubleshoot it. shouldn't take more than 10-15 mins.

would be nice if you had another 2 connect with your dsl,

if it worked ok they you would know it's your computer,

thanks guys. i'll check to see if the firewall is causing the problems. how would i find out if its a worm? would just an anti virus program like norton find it? thanks for the tips. could it also be the filters on phones or possible interferance on the lines?

Is the "DSL" light on your modem lit up?

Does it stay on during the times you lose your connection?

When your outages happen, see if FTP, mail etc. work. If it is only HTTP traffic that does not work, you've narrowed it down.

Also, try a direct connection to the net and see if it happens then. If it does, you've eliminated your firewall.
