new idea looking for parnters

I've been developing this idea for the past couple months and I am looking for a few webmasters to bump head withs.

It's a legitimate venture, I want to create a MASSIVE stock photo site. I mean, pictures of everything under the fucking sun. If we build it they will come, trust me, especially with the prices we offer. I was thinking something like $4.99 per month recurring, $50 annual, $250 lifetime, or something...could be more, but too many stock photo sites charge crazy loot for just a CD or $150 for a full access membership... come on, its just fuckin pics of shit...not ansel adams...

Hosting is no problem (looking at $50-100 per month). depending on how much we grow, that figure will go up. But by then it won't matter.

Considering it's a good idea to any of you...here's what I'm suggesting. I would like people with the ability to take SUPER HIGH QUALITY shots like mine, i.e. you have an SLR or very good equipment, I take most of you do since you do content and what not, we're not looking for shots from digital cameras that cost like $200 or $300, only the good stuff. I started out back in the 90's with a Kodak DCS560 and I was fucking in shock. Been working with digital ever since.
Based on how many pictures you contribute, you get the appropriate percentage of revenue from the net profit. I was thinking about it, by having let's say 3 of us in the program, this would make us compete to have more than one another resulting in the site always expanding.

I have a nasty vision for this and am willing to make it happen. Been working with photography my whole life; my dad is an award winning photographer...but I don't wanna say who lol, cause everyone will know who i really am lol

I'm not bragging, im just saying im not just some asshole with a digital camera, lol, going to school for film...so I'm dedicated to this. I Got the domain...can get appropriate hosting within a day.

As of right now I have about 5,000 USABLE images. Looking to get at least 10,000 before launching it. I'm also going to need a lot of programming for the site itself I guess. Can't be too hard, they sell scripts for shit like this right?

Anyway...i have more in depth ideas but won't list them all here... lemme know what's up.

if your interested and want to know more please contact me via ICQ or e-mail.

..and you are talking about a massive site? Start the posting again when you are at 3 Millions :)

Just wondering if this site should sell the stuff to users or to webmasters?

for an online database of HIGH QUALITY images, for both i guess but it would target webmasters more of course. Think about how many times when your trying to make a non-adult site and you need a specific image and you get to a stock photo site and they charge $30 for 1 image or $150 for a cd of images and all you need is 1, think about it selling access to something like this for $5/month would draw tons of webmasters to buy access just for the simple fact that they can grab whatever they want while they have access... 5,000 high quality images taken by just me is a good start LoL thats why im inquiring about other photographers and webmasters who are interested in submitting their high quality photos as many of you are content photographers im guessing you probably like to take pictures of other things also... i dunno it's an idea it's got possibilities im tryin to make it happen if anyones intersted post or contact me :thumbsup

Only 3 People?

You're thinking too small.

Just be a broker in the middle of the picture club. People pay either $x per image or a monthly fee.

On single images:

xx% of the fees go to you and xx% go to the original photographer

On images downloaded via recurring monthly membership:

50% of the membership net goes to you, and the other 50% of that members membership fee gets divided up among the photographers whos work he or she downloaded during that period.

Ie.. if the member downloaded 4 images, 2 of them being from 1 photographer, and the other 2 images be from 2 other photographers. Then the one photographer would get 25% of the money for this member and the other 2 photographers whos stuff the member downloaded would get 12.5% each. (And you would get 50%)

Also, by being a broker and having a good contract between photographers & licenses to the end user, you can eliminate most or all of your potential liability.

If you do it like this, you can get hundreds of photographers to participate.

Anyone with a digital camera.

Let them upload and force them to tag each pic based on quality, with keywords, and pre-defined categories that each image falls under etc.

Anyway... just some rough ideas for you there.

Write it all out and go hit up scriptlance or something.... or better, use a GFY programmer to develop the system for you.

Good luck. :thumbsup

yea thats a great idea, i'm still in the process of developing the full idea for the site. you made a good point about being a broker and just setting up the database and allowing anyone to submit that has a digi cam, i also wanted to mix in a rating and comment feature, and do giveaways or something for the photographer with the most viewed image for the month and things of that sort. I guess the first step would be to find someone to code the backend of the site . Any programmers interested in partnering or coding this project? i will be covering all site expenses and the design of the site.

if you guys have anymore ideas or comments just post :thumbsup
