FTC to clamp down on porn spam
FTC to clamp down on porn spam
Agency to order marketers to include warning on e-mail carrying pornographic content. NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The Federal Trade Commission plans to require that pornographic e-mail spam carry explicit messages in what amounts to an electronic version of the plain brown wrapper, a person familar with the plan said. The commission will issue a new rule ordering marketers issuing porn spam to put the words "SEXUALLY EXPLICIT" in the subject line of any e-mail with raunchy content, the source told CNN. Supporters said including those words will help e-mail filters keep spam away. But critics said the rule may be ineffective and unenforceable. It may also be challenged as unconstitutional. Interesting, but....do US ppl realize that internet is worlwide ( world wide web ) :question While i agree that spam should be fighted, they must be idiots if they think they can fight or regulate all porn spam with an US law. :warning |
No mailer would ever use this because its a short trip to the junk box. They'd have to agree to not block this too. Otherwise people who wanted opt in adult mail wouldnt get it. How's that fair?

Heard that from alot of sponsors and saw it on the news last night. As time passes i'm sure we will see more and more new rules to follow.:(

I'm already getting spam with the new rules stating SEXUALLY EXPLICIT on the subject line.
Ironically it makes it stand out prominently when you scan your incoming mail. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
