It might have been the fact that I was sitting next to her, and I kept trying that one "old move" where you yawn, stretch and put your arm around the girl.
She kept telling me to stop it and after several attempts, she started crying, so I have a feeling it wasn't the movie that caused the tears.

The movie was downright laughable! What movie were you guys watching?? Cool parts does not make an awesome movie...
-Bullshit number one:do 50,ooo men on each side stop fighting to watch 2 guys fight then call a fricken"timeout" when one guy gets killed and decide to stop for the day?? YEAH RIGHT... -Bullshit number two: is there any point in which you see Achillies (Brad Pitt) seem invincible like the mythology of his character is supposed to be? NO, no wounds that mear mortals would die for, so when he takes the arrow to the achillies tendon, you dont get the sense that he's doomed..no takes 3 more arrows to the chest then dies. WACK! -Bullshit #3: Too Hollywood! No sense about the original story (Achillies gets killed returning Hectors body to the trojans in the original story,Agamemnon doesnt die, Brads cousin who gets killed is actually a friend, etc. etc.)
-BS #4 Hot musical score (set this to uplifting horns and parade conffetti)"we stole the Greek Queen, we're gonna have a bloody battle on our hands, but lets sing and dance and trie to make the vierwer think he's in a feel good epic..la lalala" Silly silly, throw in some cheese porn shots with the camera, follow no particular character and get no sense of anyones purpose, make everyone seem intellictually dulled and mix it up with everything else and what do you got??.... TROY! (lame)

You can't compare book with the movie. I don't think the producer ever read Homeros. And I don't think they even tryed to make the movie resembleing to the book

In the movie Paris survieves. Menelaos also survives.

Have you even read the book???? Everything YOU call BS (except for the Agamemnon part) actually take place in the book. But the movie IS NOT made after the book. There are many many other things that differ... For exempel the movie is not following the timeline from the book

Disagree Donnie. Achillies gets killed returning the body of Hector with the King, shot with an arrow from Paris as it is guided by Apollo. Not killed at the end after hiding in the Trojn Horse over night. Paris dies in the final fight, does not live, etc.etc.
All my other BS comments concern the movie, its production and certain ridiculous aspects that we are supposed to believe. And yes there are many many things missing, which in turn make the movie not that great. Most of my rant was dealing with the movie directly and you should have seen that.

This movie was really nothing but average. The script writer deserves to be shot. Hector is the only credible main character. The sad part is all these actors didn't even GET a chance in the first place to show any acting skills...
