Running a Marathon

How far would you get if you ran a 26.2 mile marathon tomorrow.
Every year I tell myself I am going to attempt it. I couldn't run a mile if you paid me a million bucks.

Could You???

pornJester 05-19-2004 11:29 PM

EviLGuY 05-19-2004 11:55 PM

ADL Colin 05-20-2004 04:19 AM

I ran one at the age of 9. No kidding.

Now I can only run 3 miles.

Vitasoy 05-20-2004 04:29 AM

1 mile max, that's when I'm absolutely at my fittest. Sad/ :(

StRoGE 05-20-2004 05:02 AM

Depending on what was motivating me, probably 5-10 miles.
Obviously if there was a prize like $1,000,000 at the end I could run until I died.

Hey Dave!

I'm actually in training, to run a marathon in June over in Alaska. I always wanted to run in a marathon and figured that I should start now before I get any older.

I knew that it was going to be hard work and I wasn't sure where to begin so I joined a really cool group, called TeamInTraining. Here's a link if you want to check it out: http://www.teamintraining.org/participant/hertz-164640.

Basically, you join the group pick out which event you want to attend. There's a marathon in SD and in Anchorage, Alaska. I decided that I would train for the Alaska run since I've never been there, plus I rather run in the cold than in the heat.

We workout as a team every Saturday mornings, starting at 7am and sometimes even 6:30 which sucks. However, the runs are pretty easy if you train for it. Trust me if you decide to do it you'll be just fine and it can be done.

After I finish this event, I'm going to check into participating in Triathlon instead. I just think that workout is probably better on my knees and joints.

Hit me up anytime if you want some more information. It's a pretty cool event, plus you?re giving back to the community. This year I can finally tell Santa, I've been a very good girl this year. :)

Thanks for that info Laurel,

That is cool man. Good luck.

SlickRick 05-20-2004 12:43 PM

My aunt ran the Long Beach, LA, & New York all under 4-1/2 hours :)

merlin77 05-20-2004 12:44 PM

Yeah, I can do it, the problem is I hate running!
