Soldier sentenced to 1 year in Iraq prisoner abuse
Sorry if this has already been posted. :(
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Spec. Jeremy Sivits received the maximum sentence Wednesday for his role in the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal as part of a plea deal with prosecutors that leaves him open to testify against other soldiers charged in the mistreatment of Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison. http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/05/19/co...its/index.html |
And dammit.. I bet he lost his pension and other nice stuff like pay.
This pathetic specimen of a human being who also elected to be used to give evidence against others involved in return for good treatment does not need any one year in jail... He needs executing in the morning. The same "real justice" should apply to all the rest and up the command stucture. These are war crimes, - fuck any military courts - they all need to be stuffed into a war crimes courtroom. |
Doesn't really feel like justice was served.. but thats not surprising. :2 cents:

He should got more time :ak47:

I agree with you. One year isn't enough. |

Should have been longer

Well they can't. |
He should get more than one year!
|
I'd let the Iraqis have him :ak47:
|
He will have every day of year to think about what he did and why he is not free and then he will have to try to fit back into society. I think a year wasn't enough! :2 cents:

He got off easy.....for now.
|
I wonder when the rest will get sentences
|
I think they need to cane him, or chop off his hands, in the old arab tradition.
I actually love violent movies and that kind of stuff, but what these soldiers did to those iraqis was sick. But I guess thats miilitary brainwashing for ya. |

maybe they allowed him to keep his pensions but didn't announce it. who knows. |
ahhhh they found one fall guy.. now who else is going to do the time for something they were commanded to do...the list will get longer.... you can bet your ass the people in charge will not have to go to court as long as they have the lackeys taking the blame for them....
I think I would have said "no" and took the punishment from the commanding officers...but one can't say till put in the situation...which no one on this board is. |
