ripping DVD to avi-files
 

Anyone who knows a good software to rip DVDs and convert them into avi - files?

dont rip dvds. its illegal. :)

ripping is not illegal as long you dontl sell/distribute it

This depends on the country you live in. Here in the land of the free, circumventing the css protecting dvd's is illegal.

That said, if it is legal for you, you can pull the vobs off with something like dvddecryptor. Compressing is a matter of preference.

We generally use Dr. DivX or virtual dub. If you are just starting I would go with either Dr. DivX or with Auto GK (Gordian Knot).

DVDrip and DVDx will do the work for you.

Of course it´s not illegal. I bought DVD content and the referring web licences. So i have to put them into another formate.
