um, my kids' favorite movie is Killer Klowns From Outer Space and they even play Killer Klowns with the neighborhood kids...

but, yeah, I wouldn't let them near a rap cd...I want them to appreciate good music

Many parents just need to have the kids shoved back inside of them.

its nothing against rap just that cd is not 8 year old friendly... think its just sad that i can picture this set of parents blaming it on something else or another child when he starts reciting lines...

agreed Jenn - innocence lost is happening way too early in life.

lyrics and idols are teaching kids things that arent meant to be taught until later on in life.

its sad kids are doing things so much earlier than they should.. from drugs to the words they know...

Don't let young children listen to rap or they will be tone deaf.

Too many parents just don't care. They are willing to buy their kid whatever it takes to shut them up and get them out of their way. It really is disgusting, I'm not sure why those parents had kids in the first place, they sure as hell don't seem to want them.

Too many kids are having kids, and we're all footing the bill one way or another. :(

I agree some parents should be slapped.

But being a redneck from birth, I kind of wish my parents would have bought me some explicit rap CD's early on. I would have to recommend a 5-10 minute speech about how it's not the proper way to act, and it's a small subculture of society that deals in those terms. But I probably could have handled it.

And being familiar with a wider variety of people and music would have saved me a lot of culture shock later in life.

I do see your point. But I don't think it's so much what the parents do that affects the kids, as much as how they do it. Many parents are ignorant and irresponsible.
