anyone else get this? (inflation at its best)

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE
UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE
FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL
COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE
INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION
DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED
"STICK IT TO THEM DAY"
AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A
SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD
THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS
QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND
CONTROL TH! E PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT
HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF
GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE
FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES
ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS
PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE
FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL
SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE
MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND
AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD
THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR
CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS
OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

LOL :ak47:

smokingdawn 05-18-2004 05:20 PM

Yeah...but it will never work

scoobydookc 05-18-2004 05:22 PM

Yeah let's all go without buying gas tomorrow!

Let's not forget that it also means tomorrow no taxis will run, no buses, no delivery services or airlines.... Come on, do we not have better things to occupy our minds? I wouldn't have commented on this but I recalled a few other people talking about this earlier today.

Even if we went one day, they would just have a much better day the very next day. Lame. Someone actually sat down and typed all of that out... poor them...

Fukeneh 05-18-2004 05:24 PM

yea, its pretty much a fucking pointless idea.

StRoGE 05-18-2004 05:26 PM

Poor me for reading it all.

funny u say that, i was thinking the same exact thing! LOL

Bigjohn 05-18-2004 09:24 PM

Problem is that not buying gas for one day doesn't do shit. Especially since those who don't buy on that day will either fill up the night before or the day after. The fuel consumption will be the same.

But, even if you stopped driving for one day. Do you really think the major oil companies would care.... NOPE!

im not purchasing gas on the 19th

Furious_Male 05-18-2004 09:31 PM

I am seeing that all over the place (websites, email etc.) the problem is most people don't realize that gasoline is just the tip of the iceberg for oil usage. Oil is consumed in the making of just about every product we use. Not filling your car for a day is indeed pointless.

Yeah, every paragraph has at least one or two errors in it.

I am going to buy four times as much to make up for what you don't buy and to throw off the average. :glugglug

HeadPimp 05-18-2004 09:37 PM

Yup, that doesn't work. Maybe if everyone just stayed home for a week, shut down trucking, and turned off all the oil burning power plants it might make a difference.

Of course it would also mean that our entire economy would fall apart. Prices go up, life sucks, get a smaller car if you can't afford the petrol.

Maybe if we ban all the SUVs......... Yeah, that's the ticket.

pimplink 05-18-2004 11:21 PM

That won't work. :(

steve90 05-18-2004 11:26 PM

Not buying gas on the 19th will only effect one day of sales the next day even more will buy gas since the ppl on the 19th that needed it will just buy on the 20th

I Feel like going out and buying one of those hybrid cars that get like 100 miles to the gallon I?m sick of pay fucking 2.50 for a gallon of gas will my friend in Kansas is paying around 1.55

TurboTrucker 05-18-2004 11:26 PM

I'm not gonna buy any tomorrow. (But I'm gonna USE an extra 5 gallons :Graucho )

SS396chevelleSS 05-18-2004 11:30 PM

it would have to be done for a week to make a difference

Doctor Dre 05-18-2004 11:33 PM

Double post

Doctor Dre 05-18-2004 11:34 PM

People will just start buying smaller cards and hybrids ...
