Parents can?t help but wonder: was my child a target? The question comes after the arrest of a teacher on charges of possessing child pornography.

When investigators raided the home of Leslie Hoogland Friday, they seized computers, camera equipment, and what they allege was a cache of disgusting pictures involving youngsters. He appeared in court on Monday.

The 53-year-old has been under the microscope for months, but cops only recently learned he was an English, literacy and marketing teacher at West Toronto C.I.

I worked with this guy in my last job and found him to be one of the calmest diplomatic people on the face fo the earth. even today I contacted my old employer to verify this was the truth. Everyone is shocked and saddened that for all the time we spoke of our distain for those who produce CP, this guy was working under all our noses producing it, and perhaps using the companies equipment to make it.

My heart goes out to the families and victims - but its shocking when now you have a person you know that falls into a category of those you always hated as predators that you would shoot in a heartbeat.

Yet - the whole case is not about me, nor a man I considered a friend, but the horrible acts he produced on film with innocent kids. I am in tears thinking that anyone could do that to a kid and wonder where I may have missed the signals or signs that I could have stopped this, but cant figure it out.

We had someone on a mainstream modelboard about a year ago. He turned out to be one as well. And there were a lot of parents that send there kids to him. It must be a nightmare if you find out that some asshole did that to your kid.:feels-hot

I aks the question cause we had a case of Child prostitution here with personalities involved, and I was asking myself how would I react if one of my best friend have been caught in that thing, would I send him oranges in jail or simply say "He's not my friend anymore" I do believe #2 is the answer, but as long as you don't live it, you cannot really tell..

People fall under the radar on a daily basis. It just goes to show us that criminals are sly. They perfect their craft as an artist would a sculpture or painting.

I'm sure I would feel the same amount of responsibility if I were in your shoes. Telling someone in those shoes to try not to be so hard on themselves sounds really shallow; so I'll avoid that. I just hope you find a way to make peace with yourself. I also hope those families are able to heal and return to some semblance of normalcy.

Thank you my friend - for me, friend or not, he broke the law - morally, ethically etc. if I did find out a friend of mine was doing it, I wouldnt hesitate to turn them in. Its a sickness and it harms children - so why would I allow it?? I would be as worse than him?

It's an all to comon occurence these days - I new a guy I used to play football with - who was married to a beautiful woman - got the job ( as a teacher ) that he always wanted and a whole life ahead of him. Then I am leafing through the paper and hear that he is being charged with child molestation for having a relationship with a 15 year old - I don't know man - it's a hard thing to go through - knowing that someone you know could commit this kind of thing.:feels-hot

Sadly there are thousands of missing people each year, and many unsolved murders each year as well. If a situation/circumstances are 'right' then it's really impossible to know something isn't right.

Most of these guys can do this stuff because they ARE so "normal".. whatever that means. I mean if they are child molesters.. they need access to children. that means they have to look like everyone else to blend in, otherwise do you think people would trust their children with them?

well first off .. he was taking movies and pictures of boys not girls.

Secondly I was just talking to the police since they didnt know where he got most of his content from and didnt know he worked in the adult industry. i was hoping they were wrong about him and because they said on the news that they didnt know the ages of most of the guys.

after telling them about his work history - the police let me know that some of the boys were underage because they found them and had ID to back it up. The police were thankful since they didnt know about his working at the porn company and they will be following it up.

Now theres some police work at its finest. If hes been under the microscope for months how did they just recently find that out?
They should lock him up in a prison run by Lynndie England and see how he likes the abuse.

agreed - I was shocked when I talked to the police that they had no idea he worked in a porn company and had access to teen models, and their male models come off the street.

shit I had more info - but I was hoping that it was a mistake, then my police bud let me know privately that they wouldnt lay charges unless several of the models had ID proving they were underage... why they waiting till now to do it when he was allowed to run around with kids as a teacher is beyond me.
