Who wants a free custom illustration?
 

I've been getting some decent offers for freelance work over the past week, and my recent medical bills have inspired me to increase my income, so I've decided to take up a limited amount of freelance illustration for the time being. Unfortunately I no longer have an up to date portfolio, so this is where you come in...

I need six people who want to be turned (or have their model turned) into a custom illustrated image. I will be producing two samples each of three different styles: art nouveau, anime cartoon, and basic cartoon. The people who participate will need to give me permission to use both their photograph and the finished illustration in my online portfolio or on public forums for publicity/business purposes (this means you'll have to be authorized to give me such permission, in the event that you are not the creator of the photograph or the model pictured). In return, you will be able to use the image any way you like... as a logo, on your Christmas cards, tattooed on your backside, etc.

I will be producing these samples over the next week or so in my free time (ha ha). In the event that many people are interested, preference will be given to people that replied earlier, people that I will enjoy drawing, people that I think have a use for such an image, and people that prefer the styles that I still have available.

Please include your full name, online contact information, your preferred illustration style, what you think you might use the image for, and one or two sample photographs (that you own the rights to). I will get back to interested participants as soon as possible.

I liek that last one looks nice - kind of reminds me of an idea i'm working on for adult themed tarot cards

I've been working on a tarot card project for a while now, but I can't ever find a card printing option that would work for me...

That's some good stuff, I would be trying to put those on a canvas though, you'll see better results in an art gallery than on GFY, just my opinion, try turning them into acryllic paintings or even prints might be ok.

Here's another bump for some awesome work, I bet you could sell these as logos pretty easily, just post a thread offering logo design and you will find a pretty receptive audience I'm sure. :thumbsup

I'm awake again now and I've emailed the people that contacted me. There are still some spots available, so email me (email address is listed in the original post at the top) if you want an illustration and have the rights to a photo I can work from (I'll have to include it as a sample in my portfolio).

Rob... if you really want one, can you email me? I don't have a lot of time for the next couple of days to track people down and chat on ICQ (mostly I'll be drawing away from the computer), but if you email me I'd be glad to illustrate a model for you since I still need a few more pieces to finish up my portfolio.

For people that don't want me to use their illustration as a sample, my portfolio and rates should be up within two weeks or so, and my beginning prices will be fairly low so I can start building up some business.

This is cheezy, but, me and my wife's 1st wedding anniversary is coming up this month and do you think you could do me up an illustration of our wedding photo? She'd dig that.

I have ICQ... the number is 289669653 but I'm seldom on, and especially now that I'm doing more artwork (I do it by hand and then scan it in, no tablet for me) I'm away from the computer a lot. Plus, if you're interested in an illustration it's better if I have the info in print in my inbox, but you're welcome to try to catch me online if you have questions or something...

Actually, and this is even cheesier... I used to do illustrations all the time of in-game roleplaying weddings (like in EverQuest, Ultima Online, etc. - nerdy stuff!). If you email me (julia at grim-kitten dot com) I can email you back some samples of the more romantic (and less obscene) work that I've done.

I would probably want pay for a project like that, though, since it wouldn't work for my logo/design portfolio. We could decide on a price if you decided you liked my work.
