I know someone on GFY grossing $5 million/year that has around 300 posts that no one here even knows. He doesnt brag and has no ego. I consider him pretty "smart".

Depends on what you call "smart".

I graduated from UPenn, and many of my friends were book smart, but didn't have common sense.

I scored a 1540 on my SATs, and achieved an above average IQ which landed me in the gifted program in HS.

I'm probably not the smartest person on GFY, but one of them.

yes... it does require a minimum of intelligence... a minimum that is fairly high.. but that ends there... add to that hard work/studying, good memory, be attentive in class... will get you the high grades... in most fields... Only certain fields will require a highly superior intelligence...

I dont actually know what questions you find in a SAT... I know theres couple of questions ressembling those of IQ tests... but if they are not the majority... Im not sure if it has much value evaluating someones intelligence... Do you actually need to study before a SAT test..?

Yes, 99.9% of all people that score high on the SAT (which is out of 1600 btw), study.

There are tons of books and paid study classes dedicated to the SAT.

Well, I dont have 300 posts ... BUT I am studing to become a doctor!

I've never studied for anything like that, but some people claim it helps. And no, you can't always measure intelligence accurately based on the score. Some people just suck at standardized tests.

Most graduate programs require you to take the GRE. My roommate in college was extremely smart- summa cum laude, 4.0, president of the honor society for her program, etc. We both took it together and she tanked. Horribly. She ended up taking the MAT and doing much better. That's a straight analogy test and a lot of people do study for that one ahead of time. Any sort of intelligence test is only as good as it's reliability and validity, and it's surprising how lacking some of the commonly used mainstream tests, are.
