TROY -- who saw it ?

Who saw the movie TROY ?

Did you liked it, Better or = Gladiator ??

HammerALL 05-17-2004 01:22 PM

Great Movie - It was slow for the first half hour but the battle scenes and one on one fights are so well done. I'd say if you liked Gladiator you will definately like Troy.:thumbsup

Daft 05-17-2004 01:23 PM

It's a great movie but Gladiator is still by far the best movie of it's kind.

gutter 05-17-2004 01:24 PM

I had a much better time reading the Iliad and the Odyssey...they didn't even get Achilles' hair color right...

bluff 05-17-2004 01:28 PM

I saw Troy. It was good, but Gladiator was better.

bufferover 05-17-2004 01:44 PM

Great movie and i think that it much more good than Gladiator

SlickCash Sarah 05-17-2004 01:45 PM

Didn't you find it interesting that the GREEKS all had BRITISH accents....No one in the movie had even the slightest hint of Greek in them...

Elli 05-17-2004 01:46 PM

Saw it last night, and had that conversation with the family this morning. We decided that both movies were great in their own right. Gladiator was a hero's fictional story. Troy is a war movie about the machinations of war and the characters caught up in it. I would almost have rathered shorter fight scenes, to deal more with the conflict between the characters.

I don't know why it's rated R in the states. Up here it was 14A with the most nudity being Brad naked down to the lower hairline, which is nothing new. Guess I'l have to wait for the DVD director's cut. :Graucho

Was not quite as good as Gladiator.. but it was pretty good nonetheless.

Could have had more big battles..

TexasGuy 05-17-2004 01:58 PM

I will watch it next week. I have HIGH expectations!

Persius 05-17-2004 02:07 PM

it was good enjoyed it :)

Pleasurepays 05-17-2004 02:07 PM

mediocre but worth watching.

Gladiator was much better.

Za Ha 05-17-2004 02:09 PM

Well they did the research and figured a blonde Brad Pitt would sell better :warning

valley hina 05-17-2004 02:11 PM

I wanna go see it....the reviews are good and I cant wait to see it

Ironhorse 05-17-2004 02:13 PM

Decent, I expected more somehow. Also I didn't like the way the changed the Achilles story, it made the whole concept of Achilles heel and the legend useless. The thing with Priam showing up in Achilles' tent, I don't remember if it was in the actual story but seemed a little bit ludicrous.

troy:

*people looking off into nothing for long times
*kill a bunch of people

Gladiator Rip off!

I mean ok the story is different! but the one liners!, the sward flipping and combat scenes! cmon! how stupid do the studios think we are?

Besides that it was just OK! nothing special! Gladiator was by far the better movie!:2 cents:

axelcat 05-17-2004 02:24 PM

I want to see it

Great Movie...= to Gladiator in many respects, and in other ways, much better than Gladiator.

Question tho...did they rob the entire cats of Braveheart to star in this movie?

Menelaus = Hamish in Braveheart
Agememnon = Uncle Argyle in Braveheart
Glaucus = Hamish Father in Braveheart
Eudoros = Ruler of York (head cut off in a basket by Wallace in Braveheart.

Any more spotted?

blazi 05-17-2004 02:45 PM

haven't seen it yet but look forward to when it comes out on DVD

I think they should of used the Prince in Braveheart instead of Orlando Bloom. I mean Orlando Bloom played a wimp in Troy...

PetMyKitty 05-17-2004 02:55 PM

gladiator suck!

talk about playing around with history for the sake of hollywood.

in roman society gladiators were the lowest of the low.
a roman emperor would sooner sleep with his own mother/ brother/sister than enter the gladitorial arena.

as to Troy.... of course hollywoods screws with the story.

the only reason to see Troy is to the great buffed one.

The Emperor in Gladiator does want to screw his sister :1orglaugh
