A 16-year-old Cumming boy was arrested by Forsyth County deputies May 5 for having child pornography on his home computer.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation contacted Forsyth authorities about information that had been obtained by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The county?s white collar crimes unit investigated and seized a computer from the boy?s home.
Based on the results of the images recovered from the computer, the Sheriff?s Office charged him with child pornography.
"There were several thousand images, some illegal and some were not. Unfortunately in today?s world you can get images on-line left and right, for free. Many of the images were not illegal, but there were some that were illegal because there was clearly a child of improper age involved,? said Capt. Ron Freeman, of the Forsyth County Sheriff?s Department. "There is everything you can dream of. I don?t want to see all of them. I unfortunately had to see some of them, some of the ones that were illegal.?
The boy, who is a juvenile and cannot be named legally, has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
"For an adult, the charges would be a felony. But juvenile court is a little different system. You don?t really get found guilty in juvenile court. If someone is charged as an adult with this crime, it would be a felony,? Freeman said. "Just the mere possession of child pornography is very serious in our eyes.?
The teen has had a preliminary hearing but no court date has been set.

To be fair, this guy could have been hoarding a collection of naked preteens... the article doesn't really elaborate on the type of content.

Actually now that I re-read your topic I think you're saying the parents should have been keeping a gentle eye on their son's net access. That makes more sense.

tranza 05-17-2004 09:36 AM

That's fucked up....

When I was 14, still a freshman in high school, I didn't have the Internet yet but I knew this guy in one of my classes who did. I always knew he was pretty strange, but hey I wanted to go on the Internet and look for naked pictures of Carmen Electra. Who wouldn't?

So I get to his place... a total disaster. Books, papers, food... laying everywhere. Mom is pretending to clean up, running the vacuum and screaming at her snot covered 5 year old.

We go back to his bedroom where the computer is and he starts showing me the Internet. I'm thinking, "ok sweet, now let's find nudie pics of Carmen." So while I'm thinking, he's saying "oh man check out some of this shit I traded for in the chats". I'm thinking "sweet, porn!"

Yeh, it was porn... disgusting porn. He had a huge archive of pictures featuring naked girls. Not women, but GIRLS. I'm talking pictures of several 9-14 year old girls laying there naked. I didn't see any penetration, thank God, but who knows what else was there.

The best pictures came last. Yet another huge archive of images... but this time it was animal scenes. Busty blondes slurping thick white paste from the end of a stallions shaft. Men inserting their manhood into the rumps of chickens and other fouls.

Ech... that was a traumatizing night. And that was 6 years ago. I can only imagine what filth is out there now. No thank you, I'll stick to my handjob porn.

16 year old people make mistakes, they should give him a 2nd change. He's not automatically a pervert imho...

FlyingIguana 05-17-2004 10:19 AM

No one is calling him a pervert...You are right. He's only 16 and 16 year olds do not take into consideration the consequences of their actions...I'm sure a lot don't even realize they can get in trouble for stuff like that.
The question that this article raises is, WHERE THE FUCK ARE THIS CHILD'S PARENTS, THAT HE WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT/DOWNLOAD PORN FROM THE INTERNET???
If I ever decide to have children, there will be a computer available for their use in the kitchen or office, where I will be.

Parents cannot be held responsible for ALL of their children's action and don't have the capability of being around 24/7. I think it's unfair to blame the parents. I know when I was younger I did things that my parents would not have approved of. They did teach me better, but sometimes curiosity and peers are more of an influence than anything else.

probably... if a 15 year old guy wants to look at pics of 15 year old girls, who cares? Doesnt make him a pedo.... makes him the same as every other 15 year old guy out there.

Parents can, are, and should be held responsible for all of their childrens actions. Not some actions, but everything the kid does.

Blaming the daycare or schools is not an option. You decided to put your kids there. Face the product of your decision.

They should take kids out of the homes of parents that are not responsibile enough to have them.

polish_aristocrat 05-17-2004 12:26 PM

When you are 16 y.o, then you are more interested in 15 y.o girls thatn 24 y.o babes :2 cents:

Last I heard having your children in school is a requirement not an option.

For the life of me, I can't remember where it was, but I recently read an article about a guy who had 2 teen boys whom he caught looking at porn. He:

Put in passwords - kids cracked them
Put computer in the kitchen - kids would still look at porn when Mom was turned away
Bought a laptop, made it the "home" computer and took it with him when he left the house - kids used the neighbor's computer

I've had a 16 year old son. It is almost, if not entirely impossible to monitor what they do 24/7. This isn't a 5 year old. :(

Home schooling isn't a practical option for single parents.

I don't recall anyone saying it was. I was commenting on the post that said putting a kid in school was a requirement, not an option. :thumbsup

Then maybe you shouldn't be a parent?

Ok I will rephrase. For single parents putting your children in school is a requirement and home schooling would not be an option. :thumbsup
