Stoned at the dentist??

I'm going to get my wisdoms taken out tomorrow and was wondering if any of you braniacs have any thoughts about getting stoned before the surgery? i figure it will either

a) make me relaxed and not care im getting diced up (i hate dentists) and it is the only thing i can think of that won't clash/mix badly with whatever medecine they give me

or

b) maybe herb makes things more sensitive? not sure on this one.

what do u think? and what do you base your answers on?

sexyclicks 05-17-2004 08:45 AM

when there you should be fine
it hurts a lot more after the surgery so save your drugs :thumbsup

The Heron 05-17-2004 08:45 AM

Yea that sounds dumb as hell. Grow up and trust your dentist who should know how to take care of you. If not your a dumbass for hiring him.

gornyhuy 05-17-2004 08:46 AM

You may as well go in clean so you can experience the pure nitrice oxide high... I had a good old time when I got mine out. :2 cents:

eroswebmaster 05-17-2004 08:49 AM

I watched a buddy of mine get his wisdom teeth pulled down in Mexico while he was tripping on acid.

StRoGE 05-17-2004 08:49 AM

Yeah I agree, dont take anything before the surgery. You never know how its going to affect you.
After the surgery is another story though :thumbsup

lol!! holy fuck

candyflip 05-17-2004 08:51 AM

I got put under when my teeth were pulled. No need to be stoned.

Jaden 05-17-2004 08:58 AM

I would have to say NOT to smoke before you go. Marijuana has some vasodilation effects that might not be such a good thing when you are having surgery on your mouth. Also remember you won't be able to smoke for a couple days after the surgery....dry socket and all that. And THAT is some seriously painful stuff.......

alias 05-17-2004 09:01 AM

stoned as in weed/pot? I smoke a lot of dope but wouldn't advise that.

Sometimes when they have all that shit in your mouth it's harder to breath anyway, wouldn't need to make that any worse.

Ask the dentist for some nitrous or take xanax/valium.

Yup ... avoid smoking after the surgery for at least a few days. Looks like you are gonna have to bake some brownies or something. :1orglaugh

EviLGuY 05-17-2004 09:03 AM

Its not a huge deal.. they freeze you up good at the dentist.

Its afterwards when you have that annoying achey pain.

kmanrox 05-17-2004 09:04 AM

alias, i have tons of valium and xanax... im afraid if i take it before then it could have some bad kind of interaction with whatever they give me to pass out / be numb =)

PersianKitty 05-17-2004 09:04 AM

In the last year or so, both my boys and my oldest's boy's GF have each had all 4 out. Our dentist does gets them fairly floating before. For the GF who is scared to death of dentists.. they gave her 2 valium and 2 vicodin an hour before and then nitrous during. She doesn't remember a thing.

kmanrox 05-17-2004 09:07 AM

hmm so valume is ok to mix with the gas.... gonna have to check on webmd =)

also keep in mind i am in Thailand and God knows if these people are 'used' to mass amounts of pain and think that I am the same way.... I'm hoping not =)

Martin 05-17-2004 09:09 AM

I went to the Dentist after burning a doob. No biggy.

PBucksLauren 05-17-2004 09:10 AM

If you're just getting a cleaning then I say YES get stoned, but since you are getting your wisdom teeth pulled you're gonna be knocked up with some good ass pain killers to begin with. Save your weed :)

:winkwink:

count blingula 05-17-2004 09:11 AM

fuckin A! they say you are not supposed to smoke afterwards, so get while the getting is good!:thumbsup

Lord Helpus 05-17-2004 09:16 AM

I don't know what the docs will give you in Thailand for the surgery, but my dentist gave me the best high I've ever had, which I only got to enjoy for a minute before going under. (I got some kind of IV morphine plus assorted other goodies - imagine it felt like banging heroin although I've never done that before). I remember looking up at the dentist and nurse and saying "This is fucking GREAT!" and hearing them both laugh before I lost consciousness.

One tip: afterwards sucks. Try not to smoke and get as many painkillers as your dentist will prescribe instead. Dry socket sucks and you will strongly decrease the risk if you don't smoke for a few days after the surgery. Good luck!

tranza 05-17-2004 09:20 AM

How about asking this question to your dentist??

smack 05-17-2004 09:24 AM

just got mine out two weeks ago. coincidentally i'm going back today for my checkup/

yes get stoned.

i made sure i was stoned for everything. and i even got myself a a varopizer because after you're surgery you can't suck hard enough to pull smoke for a few days.

Herb Kornfield 05-17-2004 09:27 AM

Nitrous :)

totally agree with you:thumbsup

Webasic 05-17-2004 09:46 AM

no need, if they're putting you under. That shit will keep you wrecked from the second they pump it in your arm, until you go to bed that night.

I've never been so out of it in my life...totally killed my short term memory for a couple days afterwards too.

It was useless to talk for the next two days, from the second my brain would think of something to say...until I went to say it, I'd forget...it was terrible.

DONT SMOKE really! and also for the heavier drugs like
cocaine is a powerful anesthesic but also promotes vasocompresion effects. if doctor admistrates lidocaine with adrenaline you can have complications of extreme vasocompression caused by both drugs.

you will feel ur mouth witouth sensibility for some hours and you wont be able to eat or smoke. the pain will start and you will probably be medicated with anti inflamatory what should help. i am finishing the 3rd year of medicin dentary. next year i ll start killing ppl :1orglaugh

escorpio 05-17-2004 10:17 AM

Smoke weed, take a valium and when you get to the dentist yell "turn on the fucking GAS, bro!"
And get a ton of painkillers for recovery time.

graphicsbytia 05-17-2004 10:54 AM

kman, I had all of my wisdom teeth taken out when I was around 22, and I was put under for it, when I woke up, I didn't have any pain at all.. none

Don't be scared, it's not as bad as it sounds

loverboy 05-17-2004 10:55 AM

take 2 Advil before and after... works wonders with me without any pain
