We could be told to leave Iraq on 7/1/04!

"Secretary of State Colin Powell raised eyebrows last week when when he said troops from the U.S.-led coalition would leave Iraq after the handover if the new interim government made that request. But he also said he believed such an order was unlikely."

And what if the new "government" decides that the presence of the U.S. in Iraq is causing more harm then good, SHOULD the U.S. then OBEY the wishes of the new government of Iraq and get out of Iraq?

I sure the fuck say YES! And frankly, wouldn't even have to wait to hear their opinion on the subject!

Well as long as the people keep getting killed, there will be nobody to tell us to pull out!

We are the ones holding the country from brakeing out to a civil war. Now we came in a disturbed there way of life. Lots of people will die as soon as we pull out.

Actually I think we NEED to clean up the mess we made. And we shouldn't pull out til we make it better than before. That was our objective, and we've the done the oppisite thing, and we've made it worse than before.

So, we need to make sure there is no civil war, and clean up the mess we made.

How many years will that take? How many years have to go by with more and more people killed before we finally admit we CAN'T clean up the mess?

In Viet Nam, there was always this "light at the end of the tunnel", and we were "winning the war". But we had to keep adding troops while more and more Americans and Vietnamese died. FINALLY, in 1975, some 15+ years after the "war" began, we finally admitted no matter how many troops we had, it would not win the war, nor stabilize the country.

We're going down the same primrose lane in Iraq imho. :2 cents:

so young so young...
usa will never leave iraq.

anyone remember Bosnia and Herzegovina, did you know that usa have established bases there for years now, (war ended in 1995) usa have probably soldiers there right now to be able to go to war with some balkan country right now.

It's about time that they leave that place.

Dirty F 05-17-2004 01:27 AM

Pretty sad when you realize the only thing the Americans are doing there right now is fighting iraqi's. Not exactly the reason why they came there in the first place right?
