Find a hacker and 4-6 oz's of Semtex and they will show you how your computer could be turned into a bomb. :1orglaugh

reynold 05-17-2004 02:54 AM

OMG! Should we be scared? :1orglaugh

Creative 05-17-2004 02:54 AM

I found this in the article

Quote:

"Come withen two digits of cracking an 87-digit Russian security code that would have sent deadly missles hurtling toward five of America's major cities"
The funny thing is rookie computer users, like half the people who post here, would read this and perceive it as regular tech talk and belive everything

The funniest part of that article is the picture of that guy in the bottom left corner Arnold Yabenson. LOL - Weekly World News always has those poor computer generated people in their articles. It's like they take a headshot of all of the ugly people on their staff and then mash them all together to make some no-existent ugly mother fucker! :1orglaugh :glugglug

NiTe-HaWk 05-17-2004 05:20 AM

lol people read the weekly world news for news:1orglaugh I thought it was just for laughs:1orglaugh

goBigtime 05-17-2004 05:31 AM

Funny shit :1orglaugh

I just looked up Arnold Yabenson and got this...

Quote:

"You've Got Paranoia!"

Fear of the future fosters
foolish Net prank.

Tellingly close to April Fool's Day, a story made the rounds of the hyperbolic and the gullible, purporting to report a grave threat to all computer owners: You're typing on a bomb! A bomb!

The National CyberCrime Prevention Foundation, which does not come up on any Web search, allegedly reported that clever hackers are capable of making any computer connected to the Internet go boom.

Behold, the breathless lead from the Weekly World News Online:

WASHINGTON--Right now, computer hackers have the ability to turn your home computer into a bomb and blow you to Kingdom Come -- and they can do it anonymously from thousands of miles away!

The Weekly World News "reporter" allegedly spoke to an Arnold Yabenson, president of the hard-to-find NCPF. Yabenson is quoted thus:

"It is already possible for an assassin to send someone an e-mail with an innocent-looking attachment connected to it. When the receiver downloads the attachment, the electrical current and molecular structure of the central processing unit is altered, causing it to blast apart like a large hand grenade."

"Yabenson" also promises that this technology will soon be in the hands of "terrorist cults" and "fanatical religious-fringe groups." Hundreds of planes will be remotely blown up at once by "patch[ing] into the central computer of a large airline," and, worst, "anyone who ... holds a grudge against you or just plain doesn't like your looks can kill you and never be found out."

No wonder the NCPF doesn't have a Web site ...
