I've just recently gained my apetite back (although it seems to come and go). I even went to go see a doctor about it and says I don't "look" like a depressed person, lol. It's also a 3-6 month wait to see a phyciatrist around here.
Could this be a real case of depression or something else?

Start by checking your diet and excercise. Simple changes in those can make a huge difference.
If you're not willing or able to make a major lifestyle change, next time you go to the doctor, just let him or her know that you are experiencing depression and would like to try medication to treat it (assuming that you actually would, of course). I have found that many doctors are very hesitant to make a diagnosis of depression because of the stigma that often applies, but if it's fucking up your life and you don't have the time or the will to make serious changes, 3 or 6 months on Zoloft or the like can help bump you out of the slump. Of course, it's a very serious decision, and antidepressants can be habit forming (though not addictive).
I know a lot of people here will strongly disagree with me, and that's fine; just sharing my opinion and experience. Good luck ditching the funk.
Quick edit to add - I'd like to smack any doc who actually thinks depressed people have a certain "look". Whatever.
