Ceiling fall hurts theatre-goers

Luke Perry (shown with co-star Alyson Hannigan) leapt to help
As many as 15 theatre-goers have been injured as a ceiling partly collapsed and a chandelier fell down during a performance in London's West End.

Audience members ran for safety as plaster started to fall during When Harry Met Sally at the Theatre Royal Haymarket just after 2200 BST.

The show's star, Luke Perry, leapt off the stage to help people to safety, an eyewitness told BBC Radio Five Live.

Ambulances were called but there were thought to be no serious injuries.

The chandelier dropped about four feet from the ceiling but was stopped from plunging into the audience by its safety rope.

The motion dislodged parts of the ceiling, which fell into the auditorium, police said.

An eyewitness who was sitting below the chandelier in the stalls said: "We just saw this thing falling on us and ran.

"Luke Perry was quite gallant. I saw him a few rows back into the stalls looking very concerned and trying to usher people. There was a lot of confusion."

lol...well I did wonder if the audience member that used the word 'gallant' was part of his management team at all.

So hes being called a hero for ushering people out of the building?
Pretty sad what gets you "hero" status these days.
