Michael Moore smuggled three camera crews in Iraq!

No wonder they want the film unreleased in the US ....

Quote:

Fahrenheit 9/11 looks at life in the US in the wake of the 11 September 2001 attacks and the onset of military action in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Moore sent the crews into Iraq after disaffected soldiers wrote to him, he said.

"I was able to sneak three different freelance crews into Iraq," he said.

The soldiers had "express disillusionment that they had been lied to", said Moore.

I can't wait to see the movie.

Firehorse 05-15-2004 12:47 PM

I have to see this movie! :thumbsup

DR_PHIL 05-15-2004 12:48 PM

i would see it

evildick 05-15-2004 12:50 PM

Definately going to be an interesting flick. I don't agree with all of the guy's views, but he makes a good movie.

I remember when he talked about the availability of guns in Canada in his movie Bowling for Columbine and how he tried to make it appear that handguns were just as easy to acquire in Canada as they were in the United States.

He totally skipped over the extremely strict rules and regulations we have to follow to get handguns in Canada. They are so strict that most people don't bother to go through the process.

doober 05-15-2004 12:52 PM

where are all the moore haters now?

def gonna be a Must see

he skips over alot of things that are relevant to the topics he covers. how can he make the point its easy to get guns when there is a long and difficult process to get one?

Because he likes to sacrifice the truth to make his films more profitable.

:)

Morgan 05-15-2004 12:56 PM

That guy WILL be killed one day. He has big balls.

benc 05-15-2004 12:56 PM

The thing I find scary is the people that continually call people sheep, are the biggest sheep of them all.

Moore is a fiction creator. Shouldn't even be called a documenatry.

Documen- try: Presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter

beemk 05-15-2004 12:59 PM

i think hes full of shit most of the time, but i still want to see the movie.

theDUDE78 05-15-2004 01:02 PM

now will he also have interviews of soldiers who support the war? shit, how can you NOT find soldiers against it. micheal moore sucks because once upon a time i saw him as an objective hahahahahahahahaary director that held both parties equally responsible. now i see him as a biased mocumentary director with an agenda. no different than any of the others such as hannity or rush, just on the other side of the political spectrum.

i like hahahahahahahahaaries that show BOTH sides so i can make up MY OWN opinion.

EDIT: why the hell is D-O-C-U-M-E-N-T-A-R-Y changed to hahahahaha?

nevertheless, it must suck to be a soldier and find out you put your ass on the line for a lie.

blazi 05-15-2004 01:30 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing the film. Wondering what it's really all about...

With that said he's no better than a

Rush Limbaugh(spelling) or Howard Stern.

Only difference is his medium. Its movies...

I just watched Columbine a week ago while I was travelling. Great flick. He likes to bend the differences between the US and Canada though, such as racial makeup.

I'm sure the current administration is praying that that movie doesn't get released before November. That's probably why Disney refused to release it.

Axeman 05-15-2004 01:46 PM

I always enjoy his work, even if it may be heavily slanted at times. It at least gives you a view not heard enough in media

jas1552 05-15-2004 01:47 PM

It's funny how the same people who rail against US news for being biased and talk trash about Limbaugh listeners are Michael Moore's biggest fans.

oh man, isn't that the truth...

someone beep Rick...I bet he could get some exposure to the movie if a smaller / indepdendent company would release it :)

shit, I think he know's how to and would enjoy getting some EYEBALLS on that product...

hell I'd love to see it myself and would REALLY love to see it released prior to November by anyone....

What's that? The new right wing definition? :1orglaugh

Here are a few real film industry definitions of what a Do-cumentary film is:

"Do-cumentary is the creative treatment of actuality."
-- John Grierson, Cinema Quarterly 2.1, 8.

"A nonfiction film about real events and people, often avoiding traditional narrative structures."
--Timothy Corrigan, A Short Guide to Writing About Film, 4th ed., 206.

"A film or video presentation of actual events using the real people involved and not actors."
--John W. Cones, Film Finance and Distribution, 154.

"A term with a wide latitude of meaning, basically used to refer to any film or program not wholly fictional in nature."
--James Monaco, The Dictionary of New Media, 94.

Are you claiming that Moore's movies don't fit the industry definition?

Stop listening to Rush! :1orglaugh

don't think it is, he's just so convinced of what he's doing and wants to make people know what is going on...he doesn't focus on the money

Heh, true. Was that real or staged? Anyone know?

tbabe 05-15-2004 07:43 PM

He makes very entertaining movies, but he is a partial wackjob. Bowling for columbine was awesome. I bought the dvd and have watched it probably a half dozen times.

EviLGuY 05-15-2004 07:43 PM

Any thread with Michael Moore in the title on here always seems to get like 2 pages of replies easy. :)

The movie should be interesting anyways.. I liked Bowling for Columbine. :
