third party processors

OK I'm based in the UK and I'm looking for a third party processor for a solo site I'm currently working on. I really can't afford to pay $750 to Visa so I'd like to avoid that if anyway possible.

The ability to have an affiliate program would be nice but not needed that badly.

I've heard quite a few bad things about Verotels ticket club. Any thoughts/opinions on that?

ANy help is appreciated.

Kjimn :)

Kjimn 05-15-2004 12:39 PM

Can't you go through CCBillEU or iBillEU, or are they charging that $750 now?

Juliaa 05-15-2004 05:09 PM

yes they charge 750$, try this link (billing processors and their reviews) http://www.webmastervault.com/tip-processors1.shtml

Kjimn 05-16-2004 03:30 AM

cheers I'll look into that :)

no doubt I'll be back in a while with yet more questions...

icedemon 05-16-2004 08:24 AM

I just checked and CCBillEU is not charging the $750 fee.
http://www.ccbilleu.com
Since your in the UK, you should be able to go with them. I doubht iBillEU is charging the $750 fee either.

when i looked on the ccbilleu site previously I found this:

Quote:

IMPORTANT VISA INFORMATION

CCBill EU is a VISA approved payment gateway and service provider or IPSP for EU-based businesses. If you are a EU-Based business and want to process transactions through the VISA network, VISA requires that your business (1) be registered as a VISA sponsored merchant and (2) that it is located within the VISA designated European Union Region.

In order for CCBill EU to process VISA transactions, you must provide valid proof that your business is based in a country that is within the VISA designated EU region.
I assumed that meant I'd have to pay the fee?

Here is what they say for the USA merchants at CCBIll
Quote:

CCBill is a VISA approved payment gateway and service provider or IPSP. If you are a US Based business and want to process transactions through the VISA network, VISA and our acquiring banks require that you (1) register your business as a VISA sponsored merchant and (2) pay an initial registration fee of $750. An ongoing annual fee of $375 will be required to maintain your VISA sponsored merchant status. These fees apply for High-Risk businesses only.
They don't say anything about paying a fee for the EU merchants at CCBill. It's doesn't hurt to signup and find out. I have never heard of a EU merchant having to pay the VISA fee.

Non-American banks will not charge high risk setup fee for your merchant account. Then you can plug it into a 3rd party processor. Epoch seems to be the best by far out there.

That article talks about globill as if it were still in business - it's almost a year out of date. Not a good reference.
