PLAYERS BALL - San Diego announcement

For all of those attending the San Diego Cybernet Expo, we have a nice party for you to attend.

On June 10th, Thursday night, we'll have a slamming party by the beach in one of SD's coolest venues.

SplitInfinity.com stepped it up this year as the main sponsor and hopes to earn your hosting while providing this summers hottest webmaster event.

I used to live in San Diego, so when I heard about the Cybernet Expo in SD, I jumped on the opportunity to hip webmasters to THE best SD vibe by providing the perfect beach party.

Here's the line up. We have 3 local bands, pretty big names in that area opening up the night. We're mixing in about 300 or so locals so our webmasters will have a chance to pick up some local hotties. The venue holds 1200 people. It's a free party if you're attending the convention and passes will be issued with your registration.

Our main act is a reggae legend that my brother and I used to manage, Eek-A-Mouse. He's awesome live, gets the crowd reallly into it and everyone will be dancing and having a blast. I'm sure for those who aren't sure who Mouse is, they'll recognize a few tunes including Wa Do Dem and Peenie Walli. Mouse has a very recognizable style, using melodic singing with words like, "Biddi biddi bong bong". They coined the term, "Sing J" since he uses his voice as an instrument. Once you hear it, you'll love it if you don't already. Mouse was friends with Bob Marley back in the day. He used to sing to Marley's kids, they loved him, he's the clown of reggae music because of that biddi bong bong style that's fun to sing to. It's cool to talk to Mouse about the old days with Marley, not too many people you meet knew Marley personally.

We selected Eek-A-Mouse because he's the most popular amongst the San Diego scene, always selling out where ever he performs. It's the vibe of SD. We want webmasters to have the full Eeksperience on the beach.

Here's the venue, http://canesbarandgrill.com/. As you can see, it's perfectly positioned in the cool area of Mission Beach near the roller coaster on the boardwalk.

Big thanks to Splitinfinity's Chris Jester for really stepping it up with his Players contribution. We're looking for additional sponsors, very cheap if anyone's interested. Now it's time to hire the Go Go dancers and make it a Players Ball. If anyone's interested hit me up in my email, darren at theplayersball .com.

We'll have more Players Ball announcements in the coming weeks. Florida's Ball is around the corner. Then January, the biggest Players Ball of the year will go big budget again.

Nice wording there Darren! I think you really described the local SD vibe really well. This is (from what I know) the ONLY beach party going on for the show.
SplitInfinity networks will be giving out shirts and other prizes.

Post here if you are coming. We'll use this list for a bunch of stuff, let's just say it will be good to be on the list... :-)

I doubt we will. Looking into that stuff.

Would you like one? Are you coming? We might need to change your name to SmokingHard with the reggae and beach vibe in SD.

I agree. Each Ball varies depending on budget, availability of artists, location of the party, etc. This time, I knew a smaller show would be a smaller budget, and SD's beach vibe is a reggae/Sublime type of music.

This Players Ball theme is Beach. So come as you would to the beach, cause you'll be right there enjoying it.

If anyone else is interested in a table, hit me up int he email I posted in my first post. I'll figure out the layout and get back to those interested including you, Drinking/Smoking Hard.

And, yes, that venue is really sweet. The inside is a very cool as well, but with an outside like that, who cares about the inside. Give me the beach, I'm happy.

Now I need the Go Go dancers. Anyone want to get exposure by bringing hotties to dance for us?

Steelhead 05-14-2004 04:04 PM

D$,

Getting back to my roots SD style. Been out of town way to long. Hit me up on the tables as well.

It will be a Classic :thumbsup

We are pleased to welcome the D-Money & SplitInfinity event to Cybernet. Reggae sounds like a fun time for a place like San Diego.

This event rounds out a good first full day at the show. After a day of doing biz, attending seminars & networking - it is off to the Corridor Crusing from 6pm till 9pm, where you can get another chance to meet several of the companies. They will all have food, beverage or nice give-aways & and answer any questions you might have about their programs. ....

and then OFF to the Players Ball at 10pm. for a nice finish to an eventful day.

Hope to see you all soon!

I knew KB and I weren't the only ones into reggae music! Glad to see so many people dig the reggae.

Lars, were you at the Florida show when we did Third World 2 years back? It was one of our Players Pool Party rain outs, moved it into a ballroom and still had them perform. They sounded great live.

And for those who listen to Eek-A-Mouse, here's a lesson in Jamaicanese. Mouse did a song called Peeni Walli, one of his biggest tunes ever. He sings about riding on his bicycle, when he was approached by a motor vehicle, got knocked down by a motorcycle. He was lying on his back and saw stars and Peeni Walli. I asked him what the fuck is a peeni walli? He said it's a true story that song, and a peeni walli are fire flies. Tripped him out when he was just catching conciousness.

I listened to that song for over 10 years without having a clue to what that meant.

Yeah mon...

Chaldoray 05-15-2004 02:29 PM

I'm down, i live in SD.

Dirty D 05-15-2004 02:58 PM

Eek-A-Mouse rocks

I haven't seen him perform in almost 10 years...

Good fun reggae!

Looking forward to another kick ass Players Ball
