computer gurus please help me install this dvd burner!

okay.. im trying to install my dvd burner.. i took out my cd burner, and put the plugs exactly the same way in the dvd burner... however, no power goes to the dvd burner..

and if it helps, the dvd rom gets power if the floppy cable is not plugged in

floppy data cable, or floppy power?
where is the floppy connected to, the motherboard & your floppy only?

Doesn't make sense: different connectors.

Just plug a power connector in the fucking unit! The one that was in your cd burner ( you should be able to keep it as a 2nd drive). Make sure your DVD burner is set as slave ( as probably was your cd burner).

Or get a friend to do it. I would if I was in your neighborhood, but I doubt it...

did you line up the red strip on the cable, with pin 1 (marked on the connector) on the DVD burner?

what is your power supply? I had a machine that I had to upgrade the P/S in for that same reason. It wouldn't boot up after I put my new vid card in, I had both my cd burner and DVD burner hooked up as well.. However if I unhooked either of the drives it would boot..

I bought a 500w power supply and everything works fine now

:)
